I am a single mom of a 24 year old daughter who has given me a grandson who is two and a granddaughter who is one . My son is 20, graduated boot camp on June 27, 2008, finished A school mid August '08 in Pensacola and is now an ABE in VA and I miss him terribly. I am a first grade reading teacher who enjoys working with the children.
I am here to support or represent my:
Jason
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Even though boot camp (and beyond) will be very hard, it needs to be to develop strong people who can defend our country. My son will become a better person.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
The Navy has a lot to offer

Hi Pat, the new bride is doing great, thanks! Been so busy tieing up loose ends. The first time you get married, what do you have to change? A drivers license and a social security card. Now I have everything! OMG. Merging things is very time consuming. Otherwise all is good! Zack graduates on Friday! I talked to him last night. He is sick, has had a fever all week and his throat is sore. But he said he's hanging in there. I cant wait to see him! I leave on thursday afternoon and Ill be back on Saturday night. How are things with you?
Hi Pat! I'm sorry it took so long to get back to you... I was having problems with my computer!
We have reservations to go see Freddy Oct. 23-26. I can't wait! I made those reservations quite a while ago, and now I think the deployment has changed so they won't be leaving until March. That's okay though... I'm still anxious to get down to see him! You're son is an airman too? What does he do? Freddy has recently (well, a few months ago) made plane captain, but I'm not positive what that means. He doesn't fly the planes, of course, but I think he is assigned to one and pretty much takes care of it (again, not sure what that entails).
Will this be your son's first deployment? How does your son like being on the Truman? Has he been home since being onboard?
Let me know... it's really nice knowing there is someone I can talk to whose son is on the same boat! Have a wonderful weekend and I won't be so long getting back to you the next time!!! Ellen

Hi pat, so good to hear from you - glad to hear you are back at work!
I wish so much I could have been at the meet. There is nothing more encouraging and uplifting than to be with military parents.
Daughter is fine.....she has decided to stay away from Japanese food for awhile since it seemed to upset her tummy. Base food is not so bad!
She is now in her off base apartment and trying to find some furniture in addition to hers, so that friends can visit her...needs a bed but says that furniture over there is very pricey.
How is your son doing? Will he be home for the holidays? I am not so sure about my daughter, depends on what her schedule is, so we will see.
her leave time is limited for the rest of the year, and there is a possibility she will be on ship, because they like the JAGS to have that ship board experience. (she will love the showers, I am told!)
It is becoming fall up here..some of the trees are glorious already.....I am apple picking today, for homemade applesauce!
talk soon not well with concussion still ugh!!! sorry did not get to spend more time on saturday

Hey Pat I am sorry your son hasn't received his mail. That sucks. How are you doing the Address? That is my first question. Second I am going to copy this and send it to my husband. He isnt in the post office since he is TAD to ATO but he might have an answer for me to give to you. Get back to you soon! First let me know of that addy, it could be a simple thing as that!
Dear Pat,
No, I'm going to miss out on Saturday. For some reason I thought it was the following weekend, after my next check came in. I lose track of time with days and weeks, being home.
With the ship tour, after what Darlene told me, and showed me pictures of Kim's ship, I wouldn't be able to walk around in it.
How are things with you doing?
How is Jen? Has she started school yet?
I'll keep her in prayer.
I'm doing good. Next week, I go for an adjustment for my hearing aide.
Let me get going. Stay well.
Take care and God bless,
Love,
Barbara
