Hi Pam, yes it is true that our boys do become men while away from us, but because time changes all of us we adjust. My oldest son is 34 and in the Navy, 14 years, I always hoped and prayed he would return home, but alas he has bought a home in San…

I believe Matt was there close to 2 years, but I really enjoyed going there to visit him. Charleston is a great little city. He is now in Kings Bay Ga just a few hours south of Charleston.

Hey Diana, I'm not sure how tall your son is my is 6'3" and he has no problems sleeping or walking around inside the sub. He has deployed 3 times and because they never surface he is always glad to get back home.

New to the Navy Mom's site

I have 3 sons in the Navy, my oldest is a Chief and is stationed in San Diego with a LCAC unit, #2 son is a nuc Petty Officer stationed in King's Bay, Georgia on the Wyoming and #3 son has just graduated A school in Great Lakes and is headed next month to Japan to be stationed on the George Washington. I am already looking at flights to Japan. I try not to go more than 6 months without seeing my boys (unless they are deployed), but being stationed in Japan I believe will be a challenge. What I a… Continue

Hi Pat,

My son Kevin is aboard the USS Wyoming (gold crew) and is the maintenance coord. He is leaving on his second deployment soon. Kevin has been in the Navy for 16 + years and just reenlisted for his next 3 + years...and maybe his last. He hasn't decided if he will continue after that. Hope you get to see your son soon! Marian

I am running days behind but am trying to get to all new members... so will try to catch up tonight.
Welcome to Navy 4 Moms, this is an exciting website and very informative... We would like to invite you to the Blue Candle Lighting event that occurs in your home anytime you wish to light a candle for your recruit sailor or the military in general. This is done to honor their service during the holidays, birthdays, special events or if you just want to. The Home for the Holidays/Blue Candle Moms also ask you join us in this group. This event and group has no special connections to "any one group" We are all Navy Moms, Wives, and we became Blue Candle Moms.... this included everyone on this website. Please come join us and share your stories and your lightings and your holidays with your child...this was done because some moms were not having their sailors home, and we are support group that can share feelings and fears. Annouce your child is coming home or the despair of knowing on certain holidays it is your sailor we light the candles for. To honor them for the service in the past present and future. To honor those that gave the Ultimate Sacrifice for our freedom. We celebrate the freedom to be Blue Candle Moms and the freedom to light our candles anytime we choose. Please think about our group and the Event and when responding tell where you lit your candle, and the reasons for your paticular lighting. the event will continue and once you rsvp come in anytime and update your lightings
