1-23-2009 PIR

What an absolutely wonderful experience - even though our "quality" time with Rob was restricted to Gate A14 (due to Grad-N-Go) at Midway, it was the time of a lifetime! A heartfelt "Congratulations" to all the 1-23-2009 PIR Sailors, with a special nod to Division 073!

My heart goes out to you being without your son over the holidays! I'm sure that must have been hard!

Did Rob enlist from the Navy office in Katy? Jacob left out of the office on Mason Road. He had two recruiters - PO Crowson who was transferred, then Chief Najera. Both of them have been so wonderful and so helpful.

Are you headed up to GL this week? Have you received any phone calls from Rob? We haven't heard a peep from Jacob (other than his obligatory 30 sec call), but then, he has only been gone for 8 days. I sure wish I could hear his voice!!

I think I am finally doing better. Although we went to dinner tonight at PeiWei and the tears started flowing when I saw another family with three small boys. Oh, I long for those days.

Thanks so much for the encouragement. It truly means alot to me!!

He had his PIR in October 07. It was awesome! He was with us after the ceremony and had to be back the next morning...then we picked him up that afternoon and he was with us until Sunday morning I believe....it was so hard and lots of tears to leave him but we survived! Good Luck and have a great time!

Hi Patricia! I hope you get to go to bc graduation...it is awesome! I am a bit of a nut and was screaming my sons name out when he passed in front of us....he said he heard me and said the whole building heard me...he has a unique name so he said he knew everyone he met there who knew his first name knew his mom was there....oh well, ask me if I care! Kaston was the AROC for his group and marched in front of his group. I was and am so very proud of him. I hope all is well with you and I remember the worry all too well. One little thing I can tell you is 2 of the guys with Kaston's group got their liberty taken away from them right after the grad ceremony because they did not have the entire uniform of the day on when they went back to their barracks to get something...a higher up saw them and took their liberty away...so they did not get to leave with their families after graduation...PLEASE tell your guys and gals to wear everything they were suppose to wear if they leave the building..it was heartbreaking to see this happen when we were there. The boys did not have their ear covers on for goodness sakes!

Hello Patricia. Good to meet someone from Katy as well. My son is still at bootcamp as well. We fly out next Thursday to attend his graduation on the 23rd. I can hardly wait!!! When does you son graduate?
