My son got off the boat last week and has begun to do some traveling. I'll be in town next week when the boat gets back, but my sailor will be checking in for duty! Howz that!! Hoping to pull a 96 hour liberty with him. THAT will be sweet.

Profile Information

About me:
It's just me and my son, Daniel. My husband, and Daniel's dad, died 3.5 years ago. We used to live near Palm Springs, Ca. Now I live in Colorado Springs and teach special ed. at a middle school. Daniel of course in Bremerton. My husband is in heaven, playing drums with Jesus!

I'm a Navy Veteran. I was stationed at North Island in San Diego (Coronado) and worked in a target squadron. I was a Personnelman, working in the enlisted records office. Now, my designation has been turned over to the civil service. Today I would be a Yeoman.

I was also a Navy brat. My dad retired a Captain. And my husband was Army. He used to say that he jumped out of perfectly good airplanes! So, Daniel was raised from birth to go into the military.

He always planned on being in aviation. He thought he was gonna fly the planes. Well, real life shattered that dream and while he's in aviation, he's the bomb, instead of the pilot!

From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
It's gonna be o.k.
Breathe in, Breathe out.
He'll be fine. The Navy will take care of him.
At least he's in a safe place!
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
This was the best decision he/she could have made

Hey patty I wondered why I never heard from you well you posted it here.. That's ok I just read it.. Now I will reply. sorry to hear about your husband.. Where is his ashes planted? Sea you mentioned??? Sound like you have had a very hard time. Bet having your son leave didn't help.. So sorry but I and others are here for you! I still have a hard time qith this navy thing.. It's only been two years.. can't emaigine three more years of this.. My son is ok with it though.. What is your son's job on ship? Not sure where my son met him but saifd he is a nice person.. they are brother's there! Do you have any pictures? I would love to see them.. I see our frien Connie is here. What a nice and very helpful person she is.. Thx Connie! Not sure if our boys have meet yet. My son says he keeps his name in mind.. Well been on here for a while getting nothing done so keep in touch..

That is sooo funny! I wonder if Daniel and Michael know eachother---because Michael is doing his 'cranking' now on Mess Decks until he goes up on Flight Deck as an ABH (Blue shirt)--
you live in Colo?, right. I have a friend in Lakewood. Last time I went there was when I took Michael to see Roger Water in Denver (Pepsi Center) It was kind of his last hurrah before going into Navy..........

Yeah, I spoke to Daniel the other day, but now that I am in Colorado, I don't get to see him. However, one of my sister's lives in the SD area and she was able to hook up with him a couple times. that was nice. It was good to know he was with family. He had some good times. My parents also spent many years in SD. So, he got to go to the sailing club and was introduced as "that guy's grandson." It was great for him. He was a celebrity, Even got to hang at the bar and snag a few under the counter!!

I've been a little absent from here, cuz I wasn't getting any threads and got lazy. I got hooked into the Stennis family link and that's been handy. I'll have to figure out how to get this mail to link to my mailbox.

Yes, teaching school has been busy. Everything is moving towards TONS of data collection. I've been busy figuring out what kinds of curriculum to use that will provide "data" so that I can find ways to record and present and then modify their lessons. Not like teaching in the old days.

Yes, Daniel will be home here for the holidays. Gosh I miss him already.

Prayer request: I don't have any thanksgiving plans. right now I'm o.k. with that, but before my husband died, it was a big deal for me. Now that both he and now my son are out of the area (!) I have the potential to get depressed at this holiday and I don't want to go there. I don't really need someplace to go, or some special food, just prayer support to be o.k. with being alone. thanks.

And...I'll do a better job of keeping in touch with y'all. You really are a wonderful support to me. And Daniel is baffled that I can know what's going on with him. He does think it's cool! thanks Sheila :)

Hi Patti It's been a while.. My son called me during their last trip in port.. He mentioned a boy introduced himseld to him and said he mother speaks to yours. How sweet of oyur son.. I never hear anymore from you.. I'm sure school is busy this time of the year and boy do I miss it.. I need to find a new life after the holidays's.
Does your son get to come home?
