About me:
I'm a full-time working (away from the home) mom of 3 children. My oldest son, Nikki, just graduated from HIgh School. My middle son, Brett, is just starting High School this year and my youngest, Brandi, is still in Intermediate School. I work as a Unix and SAN Administrator ( for the non-technical people - it's the really big computers at a company that everyone uses ). So most people assume I can do anything computer related - not. I love crafts and reading (not that I do much now adays) but mostly supporting my family.
I am here to support or represent my:
Nikki (Nicholas)
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was confused, Needed to learn more about it, Encouraged him/her
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
I was confused. He called on a bad day in the middle of me trying to juggle 4 things (typical mom duties) and said he wanted to talk. Then out of the blue he says he's joining the Navy. I'm very excited don't get me wrong. Of course - it just came out in the worst way. I'm super excited for him. I know he'll do well and have a good time.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

Hi Patty!!
So good to hear from you. Congrats to Nick on the E3. I can't believe he is just starting A school. Where is his training? Anthony just finished his AE training, but they have so many guys and they all have to wait. A lot of them do like janitor work, he lucked out and will be on their "police force" for the next year, but he will remain an AE and he will stay in Jacksonville for the next two years. He is very excited to have to qualify on the rifle and he is going to be sprayed with pepper spray next week LOL. He is running triathlons now to keep busy, and he love that, he even bought a triathlon bike. He has his car down there, so he is much more mobile now. Keep me posted on Nick and take care,
Nancy

Hey Patty,
How are you doing?? Anthony finished his ATT course last Thursday (he wasn't required to do the SCC course).and tells me he will be waiting a couple of weeks till he leaves for Pensacola. But you know how that can go! He enjoyed the course and is really enjoying the extra free time. Of course, he is spending lots of time working out. He can't wait to get to the sunshine and run outside. How is Nikki doing? I love the picture of the two of you! Keep in touch, Nancy

Patty - he would be in SCC (basic seamanship classes) they last about two weeks and at held in the evenings. From there he will go to ATT, if he is in SCC now - he WILL be an ET as long as he graduates from A school.

They do: 1) SCC 2) ATT 3) A school

Let me know if you have any questions, we are in the south also but went there in December for graduation ....wow it was negative 7 degrees!

Hi Patty, Wanted to stop by and welcome you to AECF group! Is Nikki at A school now? Is he an ET or FC? Our son just graduated on Friday as an FC from A school and his dad was also an FC. You will find the group very supportive and both rates are very good. Please let us know what questions that you may have.

Hey there Patty,
I just wanted to say how great it was to meet your family and share this experience with you. What a great day! I am so proud of our guys in 007. I didn't realize they made honor division!! Anthony was telling me they were in the same group at Battlestations and he is one of the hard workers and it was only because of Nikki that they were successful at one of the tasks! He also said they hung out together. I wish Nikki the best of luck with IT school. It would have been nice to have met him in person today, but I know that was impossible, wasn't it just insane after they announced liberty!!! I hope you have a safe trip home and look forward to hearing about Nikki's accomplishments in the Navy. Let's try to keep in touch by email. Take care, Nancy

Hi Patty,
You probably spoke with Nikki today, but just in case, I thought I would let you know that they will be doing battlestations on Tuesday. That means he will be calling you on Wednesday around 4:00pm. Oh, and their division won the Captain's Cup competition!!! I found out why Anthony didn't call last Saturday; while everyone was making calls, he was on watch!!!
Hope to see you at the Meet & Greet. Nancy

Hey,
We are still in Waukegan. tips for graduation, get to graduation at 6:30, we parked inside and it took 1 1/2 hours to get out of parking lot, maybe better to take shuttle bus or park outside. We got there at 6:30 and had car pass, then stood in line for a short time to get confirmed on the kids lists. Was able to get the division t-shirt for $15.ea, cash only. then parked ourselves on top row in front of division , tip get on the inside edge so you don't have to climb over the whole row to get to the bathroom. I started crying while they marched in, very impressive, caught her eye when they reviewed in front stand and then when they turned around waved until definitely caught her attention, I due believe she smiled. I have a deal from hotel of things to do, there is a jelly belly place in Wisconsin, the younger kids would like it, We hung out yesterday, today went to Gurnee Mills Mall, tomorrow Chicago, They marched the kids out this morning, her group had gotten in trouble not a clean ship, we worried she would lose liberty,, luckily just delayed. Tell nick to clean before he leaves, dont want it to happen to him. Melissa looks great, worried about leaving tomorrow. She really misses us. Imagine that. All the local restraunts were full after we finally got out of parking lot, but waited in line at a Olive Garden. I They all liked just veging in the hotel, took her some slacking clothes, she loved that. I looked for Nick, when groups would march by.
It is great to be here. Sal

Hey Patty,
How are you doing? PIR is getting close. You and I are the only moms from division 007. I found 2 others but they have not been online for weeks. How is Nikki doing? Anthony is starting to adjust. He enjoyed the shooting and they were doing firefighting this week. I am praying for a call tomorrow (as long as they behave). Please keep in touch, Nancy
