I sure appreciate the kind words I see here....I don't get ON NFM too much. I am distracting myself by working more! Thank you everyone. Rachel made it through just fine.

OMG - My daughter is sick and quarantined! I feel so sad that I can not talk to her and give her TLC...it always helps to have Mom's TLC no matter how old we are. Being sick is hard enough in the comfort of home.

About me:
I work in the hospitality industry and live in a beautiful, pristine area of AZ. I like the outdoors and enjoy four seasons. I like to hike, camp, swim and casual bike ride. I take classes at the local community college because I never want to lose my need to learn and explore. I like to interact with positive people and also work a part time business from home. In addition to my Navy daughter, I am a proud mother of a married son living in MD. He and his wife blessed our family with a beautiful boy Aug 2007. I am only sad that there are many miles between the East Coast and AZ!

that I needed to learn the military language and lifestyle.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

How is Rachel? Is she still in Kuwait? When will she be home? How are you holding up?
I am missing my dgt. She won't be back 'til sometime in November.

Hi Patty, I certainly hope they are able to be together for a while, but there are many camps in Kuwait and Chrissie didn't know (or?) was assigned to Camp Buehring upon her arrival. I thought the Camp was small, but it is huge . The pix I receive from her and her friends show narry a blade of green, although it has been rumored that there is a dandelion in one of the landing fields! It is amazing that the camels find something to eat and drink. I got such a kick out of the fast food court in the middle of nothing. Maybe the camels are addicted to burgers, pizza and coffee! Chris likes the various types of nursing there is putting her spare time to good use by taking a couple of Master's courses. They form a tight family unit and give each other great support. Will you see Rachel before she leaves? Love and prayers to you all..

Hi Patty,
I get it! I didn't realize the Seals were involved in rescuing the captain of the Maersk Alabama. It makes sense and about time, too. My daughter and son-in-law graduated from Marittime Academy (he in California and she in Texas). They both sailed, so my heart went out to the families. In fact, one of the members of the ship is a classmate of my daughter's from Texas A&M at Galveston. Anyway, now I know it was the Seals that did the job.

Hi Patty,
The picnic was great. Wish you could have been with us. It was a bit chilly in the morning, but perfect for the DEP kids. They were so polite and sweet. Some of them asked about the Navy for Mom and I told them to let their parents know about the Navy for Mom and Navy for Dads. We had the admin from Navy for Dads at the picnic. Can't wait until you get back down here again. Make it soon so we can get together. Also, if you need a place to stay, you are welcome to stay with me. You know I have plenty of room.

Hi Patty: Yes! The picnic went very well. There were over 200 people there...including the DEP group, their parents, recruiters and Navy for Moms! I think everyone had a good time. We waited until after almost everyone had cleared out and then a few of us stayed to pack boxes to send out to deployed sailors...think we packed 8 boxes in all!!!

Hi Patty,
How are you? I hope you are doing well. I see that you are not able to attend the Potluck, we will miss you. I just wanted to say "hello" and to keep in touch. I hope you come down to the Valley soon.

Patty: YES! The April 4th potluck is a family event...Rachel's dad is welcome to attend. There's another dad from the Phoenix area who's son is waiting to go into bootcamp who plans to be there.

Does he know that there is now a Navy for Dads site? I think it's just getting off the ground....but he might be interested.

I am in San Diego now. I have kept up with N4Ms using my kid's 'puters. I got WAY behind the week before I left because of working so hard. I will be here a whole week, but it goes so fast, then back at it. My dgt hasn't heard anything else about her possible deployment. She did say that Kuwait will be a great posting for your dgt. She says that you get to wear civilian clothes and go to town!
