ok, so join!!! you will hopefully learn a lot about what's going on over there, plus you might find some moms that you met when you went for your surprise! Please let any moms you did meet know about my group! It's more base specific that Norhtern California Moms, not that that group isn't good too. In fact I didn't even know it existed until I saw it here on your page. I am going to check it out myself!

Hi Rhonda! Thanks for getting in touch with me,,I'm slow on responding to my great friends on here,,(I wonder why, it's not like it's Christmas or anything,) I can't help but think that if my sons original orders went thru that he would be on the ship w/ your son if he's on the USS Essex,,,he was supposed to deploy to Japan last Jan., but now it's this Jan, he's mentioned some of the same places you've mentioned that he will be seeing,,I talk to him almost everyday now, but I know that won't be possible when he's on the ship,,just knowing he's in the States and not half way around the world is so much better, but this is the life he chose and I am so proud of him and he is looking forward to the deployment,, and putting his skills to good use,,I hope I talk to you again before Christmas, if not Have a very Merry Christmas and I know your New Year will be great w/ you sailor coming home, Thank him for me for serving our country and keeping us all safe,,Huggzz, E.

OK that one went right on. I said that you will like Lemoore, it is clean and well kept. The Exchange has some nice things in general and a nice souvenier area. We even got the "Navy Mom"and "Navy Dad" license plate covers(we wouldn't leave home without it! grin) I love the souvenier area!
The housing area is really new and very nice. The townhouses don't even look like they are on a military base. And they keep the neighborhoods clean as a whistle! Barracks look like barracks but cleaner.
Our Son's Unit is flyingonto the Base, I believe. That's how they originally left. I don't know if you will be able to get on the base w/o being signed in by a military person on Base. You have to sign in at the Police Station on the right just before the guarded gate. If he has a cell, you could call him when you know he has landed and he'll be so suprized when you tell him you are @ the Main Gate!! He'll come rushing to sign you in and get your pass. Make sure your pass lets you go to his work area as there is another guard at that entrance. They are very secure, as they should be. You'll be so proud to see what he can show you of his job. I was prouder than at Josh's PIR, if that is possible.
There is a Navy Lodge on Base as well, reasonalbe rates, but again he has to sign you in there as well. We never had any problem getting a room. The Lodge has a kitchen in it and storage to beat the band! We liked it a lot. Best bet is to call the Base and ask what you need to do. However you have to do it, you know it will be worth it! You'll be so happy to be with him. You may not like the near towns much. But Me-n-Ed's has the bestpizza I have ever had and I'm not much on pizza. But Fresno is nice if you prefer larger cities. There's an Indian Reservation where locals go to gamble. The Base does have a few places to eat, they are getting better and better.
Josh doesn't live on base anymore, so no more Lodge....
Only one more month, you must be ecstatic!! I am so happy for you. Wish I could be there to meet you and your son, but my son doesn't want me there.
Maybe one day...God Willing....

Happy Christmas and New Year!

Hi Rhonda! I hope your weekend is going great! I just talked with my son (actually twice today, I'm so blessed) He talked a little about his deployment coming up (about 8 weeks from now) I told him I'm hoping his twin bro. and I can fly out and see his ship come back next summer,,He said that would be too "kool". He's actually suppose to be in Japan also, but you know how things like that change,,Is your son on an amphibious? Thanks for the compliments, My son truly is my hero,,Blessings to you and yours, Erelene

Hi Rhonda,
TY I know how it is to have an only child. It was rough when Katie first went in. Surprises are the Best!!! She just came home the end of August for 3 weeks and surprised me. I had no idea she was coming, you should have seen the look on my face when she walked into my shop, I started crying it was the Best Moment Ever!! My daughter is on the USS Blue Ridge will be in Japan for 3 years. Thank your son for serving our country for me!!
