Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
That it's a LONG way to Guam and sometimes "to sea/under" is for a LONGGGGG time! He stays very busy.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Rebecca,
Have you heard from your son recently? I got a five minute phone call about two weeks ago when they were in WA. My son had a 24 hour duty shift, then was heading to explore Seattle & surroundings for a couple of days. I hope he took his camera with him.
Is he still planning to come home for a visit at the end of the Summer?

Hi Rebecca, I sent you a private email. I talked to my son the other day and it sounds like our boys know each other.

Hi Rebecca, I saw you are a Houston mom .. and I wanted to pop in and introduce myself. I am a Houston mom too!!! My son just finished his qual's and is waiting to be "Boarded". My son is a Sonar Tech on the Houston. What is JP's rate? Duran has been in the Navy for a little over two years and in Guam for a little over a year. There is a Guam Mom group you may be interested joining. I would love to chat sometime. Welcome to Navy Moms!

Dear Rebecca,
How are you doing today? This Navy for moms is such a blessing.
SO your the pro, at this, more then most of us!! HAHA!

It is really so much easier and nicer when you keep in touch with other Navy moms. We all know how one another feels here. Friends and family don't understand what we feel and go through.

I'm now going through my seond missed holidays and birthdays!! I think the shock of my daughter Kim's absence is wearing off a little! But I do hear from her usualy every week, so that helps a bit.

That's fantastic that your son has been to a few other countries. My poor Kim is still docked in Virginia. SHe doesn't know when her ship will pull out again. She's on the USS Normandy, but the ship has been docked since she got stationed there last November. She hasn't been anywhere yet.

What is it about Japan, the Sailors love it there!!!. I have one mom, her son married a Japanese girl and they two beautiful children. I hear this all the time about Japan, how beautiful it is. I hope and pray for your sake that your son doesn't move there. I'd hate to have one of my children live in another country, other than being stationed there form the Navy. That's hard enough!

I hope your Easter was nice. It was just the four of us. My husband helped cooked, but I got abandone for cleanup, as usual!! UGH!

I hope to hear form you again. I'm always around here! HAHA! We are a great bunch of moms here. You even said it, it's no coincidence, God lead you here. He lead me here last year, I made this my hobby, I do dedicated myself to Navy for moms, I love it.!

Stay well, please don't hestitate to write.
Take care and God bless,
Barbara

Hi, Rebecca, and welcome to Sub Moms! There are two other HOUSTON moms I know of: Jane Charlton and Tracy Davis. You should find them easily enough by putting "uss houston" in the 'Search' box at the very top of the page. If not, I'm happy to help.

BTW, when you post to your own page (as you did below), no one will see it unless they visit your page. To introduce yourself to the greater community, copy the text (you can use Ctrl+C) and post it in the Sub Moms area (use Ctrl+V to 'paste' it). You'll get lots of welcomes then.

Also know that there's a 'Nurse Moms' group and a 'Guam Moms' group you might wish to join (plus many others). The Guam group might prove extra helpful. We're ALL here for info and support, so shout out whenever you like! Hugs, k.

Hi all!

Thank you Barbara, Karen & Pat for the nice warm welcome. I don't know if I have questions moreso that I just wanted to "be around" someone who could give me insight should I need it and knew the feelings of watching our "babies" all grown up making their way into unknown worlds. My JP graduated from base camp 1/07 in Great lakes & went initially to Groton. He wanted to see snow....well he got his fill of it he said. Now he's in "paradise and it's my job. How cool is that" was his comment about being stationed in Guam. He just got back to Guam from about 7 mos in Hawaii in dry dock and presently is "under sea" getting his dolphins. The next time I will get to see him will be probably the end of this summer. Needless to say I miss him and will be more than glad/happy to see him again. He's had quite an adventure so far in his career. He's already been to Japan, where he says he will live someday(mom's hoping NOT). LOL I'm so proud of him and the Navy has been such a good thing for him. It's matured him in ways nothing else could have. Still got some "maturing" to do but I couldn't be more proud of the man he's becoming.
I look forward to getting to know ya'll and maybe find some moms close to me. I'm a nurse working weekends/nights, so my schedule stays kinda messed up, sleep-wise. LOL I think I"m in the right place and honestly I don't believe in "coincidence" and feel God lead me here for a reason, which only HE knows right now.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend. I just got off work and will be hitting the bed soon to get some rest to go back tonight and do it again.
Everyone have a GREAT day and again, THANKS for the welcome!
