I am a mom of three boys (18, 17, 11) and I love them more than life itself. My husband and I have been married since 1990 and are so very proud of our son's decision to join the U.S. Navy.

Gutted

Does it go away? Not really but it becomes less over time. My son and I were close so it was extremely difficult for me to see him walk away. And even today (5 weeks later) walking down the cereal ...

least I know where he will be for a while...He thinks he will be there till close to the end of year...Can't believe its been almost 2 weeks since his PIR...You will just love it...Oh I was so excited I could not take no pictures or Video...At least he bought the PIR Video...It was so funny was the first one on the floor when she said LIBERTY...Had him in my site then they all started to move around & I lost him & had to turn around to go back to where we were sitting...lol...But I know you will feel like I did Proud & just let me get my arms around him....

I'm good. Jared is 27 and has struggled to find his place in world, trying many paths. This seemed like a good way to finish his schooling while earning a living and he said he would be helping people. His brother is a Sgt. in Marine Corps so as a medic Jared will be assigned to a Corps unit. I am extremely proud of them both. His phone call Friday was unexpected & reassuring. He was able to tell me happy birthday (although 3 days early, it still counts!)

Hi Renee...I am sorry to hear about your long tough week. I am sure that you were a great comfort to the family of that young man. My heart aches just thinking about that mother's loss. I will keep them in my prayers.

Did Jacob give any news in his letter on how the DIV is doing? Just curious to share information. Justin mentioned that they were still struggling to pull it together as a group. I honostly believe that that must be a common problem for all DIV. I have read in other posts that they all seem to come together around week four or five.
