You will be able to take them for the rest of the day if he is not grad and go. You should be able to have him for most of Saturday and Sunday also. He will have a time to be back at his ship and you don't want him to be late, so make sure he is bac…

This is my 4th Christmas without my son and I am used to it by now because I know he is where he wants to be. Make yourself put up your decorations and a tree. Stay busy and focus on celebrating the reason of this season. You know your son would no…

It depends. He won't be able to bring a lot of his stuff with him until he is assigned to a boat. He will be allowed to have some things during A school, but they don't have a lot of space in their rooms. We did not clean my son's room out complete…

Thanks for explaining for me Gary. I just have not known anyone to be on hold for that long between schools. Has he been assigned to a boat yet? That must be hard on him having 3 months of doing basically nothing.....no school or anything like that…

I told my then 17 yr old son still at home that he would just have to suffer through me torturing him with hugs and kisses to make up for his brother not being home. He was not pleased but put up with me for about a month, then said "Mom that is eno…

Janice - My son has been in for 3 years of a 5 year stint. He was one of those kids who hated authority (ADHD & Opposition Defiance Disorder). He was never very successful at anything; just complained about everything. You know.....the world is out…

I agree with what everyone else said. She must stand up for herself to these "men" who are actually still boys. They will continue to treat her like this until she fires right back at them. My son is my sailor and he had the same problem since chil…

I would like to make a suggestion. Mentioning how proud you are of your sailor in every letter you write will be a huge boost for your son. If you only focus on how much you miss him, it will only make him feel worse. Be strong for him so that he wi…

The best way to survive the holidays without your Sailor is to keep busy. Doing something for others if you have time is a good way to feel better. You will be sad; don't feel guilty for that. It is a very normal reaction to the Life Changing Situat…

And then I heard from him about once every 8 - 10 days! His division did so well they kept getting phone call privileges for doing good. His division ended up a Hall of Fame division with the highest score to date at that time. They won every flag t…

Profile Information

About me:
I am the proud mom of a Navy Submariner stationed at Pearl Harbor on the USS Olympia. I have been married to my soul mate for 28 years and have 1 younger son also. Originally from Southern Louisiana, we moved to OK the day after the wedding, then moved to Lafayette, LA where my sailor was born. My younger son was born in Tulsa, OK and is now going to college for film editing. I love music of almost any kind, playing computer games, reading and making new online friends.
I am here to support or represent my:
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
You have to let go and let your child make their decision. Make sure they research carefully but encourage and support them in their decision. Life goes on as children grow up. You can not believe how proud you will be of your child when they graduate boot camp. The 8 weeks at boot camp brings about wonderful changes.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Rhonda: Our son is stationed at Pearl Harbor aboard the USS Crommelin. We went out 3 years ago for an anniversary trip (b/4 our son was stationed there) and the flight was long from Atlanta. We flew Delta under a friend who is a pilot, and got first class, so that was wonderful. When you board (I'm assuming that you booked coach) tell them your medical condition and if there is a seat in first class, they may move you there!!! Have an excellent time in HI...we're headed back to see our sailor in December!!! ALOHA

Hello Rhonda8881 my son is on the USS Cheyenne out of Pearl Harbor, Hi. He's seem to be having a great time. Lots of hard work but on his time off he goes out with the guys to surf or airsoft. He said he went to a club also. He will soon have his car so he will be able to see more of the island. Glad to hear you'll be out there next year. :)
