Hello everyone! I haven't been on in a long time. Does anyone have a son on the USS Nebraska? My son is out for the first time as of the end of November, I am missing him so much. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Hi Rhonda,
I am going back and getting in touch with the ones I met at before PIR. I hope you are doing alright. How is your son doing and where did he get orders to? I hope he is happy with his decision to join the Navy. It sure is an adventure! I hope you have a nice Easter.
Take care,
Diane

Hi Rhonda, Ian too left on the 2nd in the early am. I thought I was fine til I hugged him bye. I choked back the tears and watched him go to security. He is fine and is settling in in GL. I also wish I had taken more pics. Can we ever have enough of those important moments in our children's lives. I feel a little better knowing I can talk to him and keep in touch. Its like college, but a few more rules. They have made admirable choices for their lives. We just have to let them have their wings and fly.

Thanks so much for all the pictures, they are now in the PIR file. Ian was able to point out were he was at in a few of them. He was blocked by a flags most of the time.

Hi Rhonda,
I was glad to get to meet you in person! That is one thing I have always enjoyed about being connected with the Navy. I'm glad you had a safe trip and were able to be there for graduation. I am glad you are able to spend some time with your son. We only saw my son for about 10 minutes and he went to get his pictures and asked us to wait in the hall for him. We were asked to leave there and wait at the hall which we did. We never did see John again. He did not know where to find us. John will be in A School at Great Lakes. He will either be a FC (fire control which launches the missiles from aircraft carriers or aegis missile cruisers) or ET (electronics). He has 27 or 33 weeks of school at Great Lakes. He will take leave when school is finished before he goes to his new duty station. We talked to him on the way home. Its a whole new life when they are in the Navy. He isn't too far from us, about 250 miles so I will probably be going out to see him again while he is at school. It is a good change in their lives when they join the Navy. They have a career and they never lay off in the Navy. I hope we stay in touch. My email address is dselling@yahoo.com. Happy New Year to you Rhonda! Take care! Diane

HI Rhonda, please, if you could email the pics to doula_nancy@hotmail.com that would be great. I have just a few that turned out. I was most embarrassed to have my son tell me that I was looking at the wrong guy the whole time. He warned me that they all looked alike. Thanks.

HI Rhonda, how did the trip home go? Ian slept at the airport and on the planes. He has been entertaining us with stories. Such memories our sons have. They are men now. Was wondering if you might have any nice pics of the PIR to share. My own pics were mostly blurry. I had the camera set wrong. So mad at myself. At least I know the DVD is coming in a month. I did get one photo uploaded but now I can't get any others to upload. I am so computer illiterate. Take care and keep in touch.

Hi Rhonda,
It was so nice to meet you! There were so many to talk with but that was the neat part. I hope your return trip went alright since flying is not something you enjoy. The PIR was so neat and I love the rich traditions that go with the U.S. Navy. I hope your Christmas was nice. Where will your sailor go now? I wish the best for them. Take care! Diane
