New Hurdles

So I contacted BUMED today because I had not heard from the guy they said should be in touch. They gave me the email address to Commander Rivera-- I emailed him and he says we need to have my son's recruiter submit to CNRC for a courtesy review. But I am optimistic the requirements he gave me I know my son can pass. So now we have to go to the recruiter who already told us that his hands were tied and request that he do more work for my son. I also spoke to a friend of a friend who told me that… Continue

Conserved Excitement

I have such mixed emotions. I know that deep down my son will be a US Navy Sailor one day soon. And with all the great things going on now I just know it is going to be sooner than later. I have to be very grateful to all the moms here who have gave me support and information. I talked to BUMED today and they have requested a physical for him and I just know it must be a good sign. I am just waiting to hear. I spoke with my son and he doesn't really want to get too excited he has been let down b… Continue

It has to go to MEPS to get to BUMED. If you don't hear anything in the Next week or so please le me know. I know it is hard but the medical part of it does take some time, I know you want your son to be happy and you don't want him to get lost in the shuffle. If you don't hear anything by the end of the month please let me know and I will call down there again to talk to them.

Is your son in boot camp or trying to join up? It is terrible the hoops you have to go through sometimes. They wouldn't even send him to a MEPS specialist? I hope this all works out for your son.

HI,
My son got a waiver for hearing. He failed the hearing test and had to go back basically apply for a waiver. He went back to MEPS who in turned sent him to a specialist. The specialist is the one who signed the waiver for the job he wanted to do (ABH firefighter rescue). But when he got to boot camp they retested his hearing and said they would have to reclassify him to a new job. They took the waiver for his hearing but not for the job he wanted. Last I heard from him he is fine with it. They gave him 3 choices. Does your son need a waiver or does he have one?

I talked with your sons recruiter today. They sent the Med Read up to MEPS yesterday (all the medical document to be reviewed by Doc) and according to him it takes several days for the med read to come back. Each MEPS is different and has thier own procedures. I hope I was able to help.
Maegan.
