Red Flannel

This weekend is Cedar Springs' Red Flannel festival. It started when we had lumberjacks working the area. Michigan weather has finally started getting fall like. We are in the 60's and rain most days. Just the kind of weather for Red Flannel.

New Navy Mom

Hi
I am not only a new Navy mom, but new to writing blogs. My son just went to his A school in Groton, Ct. He really loves it there and is very excited about working on a sub. I am wondering if we could visit the base.

I live in Cedar Springs, Mi and joined to give and receive support from other moms going through what I am. I did not think I would miss my son as much as I do. It is harder than expected, but I am very proud of him and he is the happiest he has ever been. THAT means the world to… Continue

Hi Robin,
Robin here. I'm from Cedar also. What school do you work in? My son graduated last year (2008). We're is a holding pattern his recruiter is trying to get him a specific job. Hopefully this week. Just wanted to say Hi.

Hey Robin, how are you? Josh will be finished with his schooling on 12/12/08 and is to report to King's Bay by the 30th. They told him he would be a rider on another sub while his in in dry dock. He is pretty excited about it all. I can't believe this seems to have gone by so quickly, at least for me, probably not for him. He has an average of 94 right now in this last class. They told him when he finished the previous school as the top guy that if he did it on this class he would come out of it a Petty Officer, so needless to say he is driven. I just hope they meant what they said. You know how it is if it isn't in writing. Oh well, I guess we will see. Josh was telling me that the ST and the ET's get put on hold a lot for some reason, waiting for the classes to fill up or what ever. I think that makes it hard for the kids to stay focused and motivated. I am glad Josh went from one class right into the next with out delay.
It was very nice to hear from you Robin. Will talk again soon....Kathie

Thank you Robin, Dana does do a nice job with them. Josh picked his orders today, he will be on the USBN Tennessee, it is in dry dock right now so he will be on loan to a fast attack sub for one year before going to his boat. So first will be in Norfolk then to King's Bay. He is pretty excited. Has Michael got his yet?

Thank you very much. I really like their uniforms, especially their dress blues (which are black?) When we left her she said she thought she was leaving Wednesday for Virginia Beach but haven't heard from her yet. I'm hoping to hear from her soon. Thanks again for your good wishes. How is Michael doing? Will he be home for the holidays?

Hi Robin, Graduation was incredible. I was so happy to see Stephanie, we both cried. It always seems like there is just not enough time but we had a great time. I waited so long for this weekend and now it almost feels like it never happened. Thank goodness for pictures.

Thank you Robin. We don't have any updates on the cousin. All we can do is continue to pray. I'm looking forward to actually meeting my daughter in law at Christmas. I have a feeling that after we meet in person, that I'll get lots more phone calls from both of them. Have a wonderful weekend.

Thanks Robin, but we are still working on getting the boys home together, hopefully at Christmas. Adam should know by the end of the week whether he will be able to take leave or not. His squadron is next in line to deploy but we are still hoping we can pull it all together. So is Michael's ATT class still in Groton?

Hey Robin, nice pics, he looks good!!! Josh said he though he could get off from the 19 to the 27th, he has been trying to coordinate leave with his twin brother. Adam will know by the end of this week, he may be able to get from the 19th to the 28th. He may be different depending on what school they are now in. Josh had two tests already yesterday, and got 100 on both.Hope he keeps that up. What is Michael going to school for now I know I heard it at graduation but as usual my old mind has forgotten. Josh is in Basic Mechanic School now. You are very welcome for the pics. I wish we could have taken more for you. Hope all is well with you and your family... HUGS Kathie

They will be wearing their dress blues. She did say that she wants to go to the Shedds Aquarium. We went downtown Chicago at the end of June to celebrate our birthdays but did not make it there. I think she's most looking forward to a Starbucks coffee.
