When I heard “Navy,” I:
Needed to learn more about it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
My son thinks of the future, not something children ( especially boys ) do at this age of 17-18. Most want to, lets say roll for awhile. He has surprised me very much, just considering the military. I would have never guessed.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Robin a.k.a. widfire-Hey again. We will hear from moms test Tuesday we hope. I have always said that experience in life is your best teacher. Education can give you the basics, but LIFE gives you the real lessons to learn from and grow stronger. You do not have to have a college education to be successful, although I know some will disagree with me. You have obviously touched lives in rasing your children and for them to persue their dreams and aspirations. You have accomplished much. A degree hanging on a wall is not the true measurment of the person. There is so much more to it than that. I really feel ,like has taught me so much and for that I am thankful. It was not always pleasant, there were the trials, but I survived and I am determined to continue to be a part of children's lives, even if they are grown. And when grand kids start arriving, look out here I come!!! My DIL has family near Tampa, an aunt that works in a Home Depot and she hopes to get a job in a Home Depot down the road from the house they are going to rent. I sure hope she can do that. That will be a great help to them. I hope my son understands everything about the house lease. They have been so used to living on base housing the past 4 yrs., this will be new for them, but also life lessons too. Hope you have a great Labor Day weekend!! Keep in touch.

Robin a.k.a Widfire-Hey thanks for remembering mom in your prayers. She had the test today. Came home and waits for results. At least she did not have to go to hospital after. She's got a cough right now, hope it is seasonal allergies or something. I will keep you in mind if my DIL needs any craft supply needs if she can't find them on her own. Sounds like you are like me, a survivor from divorce, but I did not leave, he did. I inherited all the debt from the marriage though. But I wanted the house and I am trying to get it paid off because that is the kids home where they grew up and I especially want my son to have a hometown and a childhood home to come home to when he visits from the navy locations. He will probably never live in Ky. again. Well have a great holiday weekend. I have to work the weekend.I am here in California until the and of October. I will be back in Ky. in November. Take care.

He hopes that he can move his wife and pets down after the 11th if everything goes thru with the house. His buddy has helped him a lot because he is from Tampa too. So hopefully in 2 wks that will be settled for him. As for me, my mom is having a cardiac stress test Thursday back in Ky. Please keep her in your prayers as I am an only child with 2 children. Son in Tampa as you know, and my dgt. in college in Ky. 35 miles away from her. My best friend's mom is taking her for the test. i just hope nothing drastic needs to be done and she doesn't get worse. Thanks so much for thinking of me and my son. I really appreciate that. When my dgt-in-law gets down here she may want to know where some things are located in the area. Do you know of any craft supply stores in the area? She is very creative and can decorate and design things for your home. She has made Navy themed items for their home in the past and she personalizes them too. She is really good at it too. Hopes to start a business for it someday. Have a good week and a safe Labor day weekend and holiday. Keep in touch.

Robin,
Hey Lady! Actually we are leaving tomorrow in the RV to head toward Tally to see our daughter graduate from FSU and then heading north to visit Bob's family in MI and then over to Niagara Falls for some sightseeing and then finally to see Shane in NY. Definately looking forward to that stop!! He's been working 13 hr days and is stressing. Sorry to hear that your son is heading to Iraq. What will he be doing? How long? We will keep him in our thoughts and prayers for a safe journey.
Well got to get on the move getting things ready. Will be checking online...so keep in touch. Talk to you soon.
Mia
