Brenda Sue - I think you priced a flat rate express box, look at the flat rate priority box, the top price is $13 plus change. But remember it only gets it to the APO/FPO distribution point fast, from there it can be a boat, plane, mule, helicopter.…

We didn't law down the law with Dan, but he wanted a carpenter/construction job, and we told him the days of showing up a the job site with a hammer and a pickup truck were gone. He needed to go to community college, trade school, get into an appren…

I don't think having them away at the holdays gets any easier, I think Dan was away 4 of the 5 years he was active, and both deployments since he went reserve. Worst was the time his batallion entered Bosnia in a convoy on Christmas Day. If you are…

There are more patron saints, St. Elmo has a sailboat on it's medal, St Mochael is patron saint of law enforcement, too. St Nicholas is also a patron saint for sailors. St Brendan is the patron saint of navigators.

Taking classes did not work for my SeaBee, he was here 7 months, gone 7 months, and worked 6-7 12 hours days in a row, so study was out of the question. He did get a degree after leaving active duty, stayed reserve for the monthly paycheck, was able…

Sounds like fun, wish I could make it, have fond memories of spending 3 weeks in Sister Bay when I was 11, best summer of my life! Daddy had business in Manitowoc so we combined a cross country trip with business for a great vacation. Sorry!

This is for people who would like to meet other (politically and religiously) liberal people who have a loved one in the military.

Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
What ever their plans, they WILL be changed, sometimes it doesn't pay to drive to the airport until they call and say "I'm here!".
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Hi Robyn,
Thank you so much for all the info. My son does seem to have military in his blood. The only reason he says, he got out of active duty, was that he hated being so far away from friends and family. With reserves he can report close to home, then go for the deployments. (Which he really did enjoy, even while in the sand box of Iraq, he didn't seem to mind it too bad.) How did your son like Dubai? I would love to see that place.
My son (Derek) is starting college full time in Aug. We are hoping he can at least get his assoc. before he would deploy. How often has your son deployed as a reservist? I know it can be different for each, but just wondering.
Thanks again,
Debbie Satterfield
