OK true DI's should not coddle the recruits. BUT please give me a break. There are certain circumstances that require a human side. I am a Army Brat and the wife of a Retired Navy Sailor and I have a son in the Navy and one going to BC in Dec. I w...

prayers he or his friends or family will contact Red Cross on his behalf,if it is a real emergency. If there is a real need for him to go home, they will find a way. Sometimes they just get real homesick.

I'd like to get the name of the DI who humiliated him for being human! That DI does not deserve to be in a leadership role. It's one thing to take a sailor aside and tell them to buck-up, it's completely unacceptable to humiliate him in front of h...

If I could get this young sailors name and address I would write him. Nobody should be talked to like that.I thinks he needs support from all of us.It would be nice if all sons would care about their mom's like that.Karin

Hello Sandra, I haven't emailed you in awhile. We have Hans home on leave until April 1 for a total of 20 days. He is going to the USS Essex out of Japan. He is an E-3 and a yeoman. This will be different as he is used to being home. He has lived away from home working in the summer but not out of the country for 2-3 years. I homeschooled Hans from 2nd grade through high school so we are used to him being around. I know he is apprehensive about being overseas. I 'm sure once he gets use to Japan, he'll enjoy seeing new places.

Hello Sandra, Well Hans has received verbal orders for Japan and on a ship! He is awaiting the written orders. He is halfway throught his classes for yeoman. We had a great visit with him in Meridian Ms over Valentine Day through President's Day. I am so glad we went to visit him. He will get 3 weeks leave at home and then be flown to Japan. What a change! He went to boot camp in November, A School in January, and now Japan in April. My father was stationed in Japan after WW2 with my mom. My mother was 7 months pregnant with me when they came home. lol

Hi, I'm a new Navy Mom from Terre Haute. My son reported to Great Lakes yesterday. My first husband was in the army, not a career man, and we were stationed in Germany for 3 yrs., so I am familiar with Army, but am sure things have changed over the years, that was in '68, '69, and'70, I am 10 yrs. older than you.. I have three children, none home schooled, I work as a Multimedia Asst. at a middle school. There is an event in Indy March 14th. My son wants to make a career of the Navy, he is 23, and I figured I may as well get involved as much as I can, so am going to attend. I'm sure you have your hands full, but if you need to talk at least I am right here in TH. Blessings....Jackie

Hi Sandra, I saw Michael's photo. He is very handsome. I need to figure out how to add photos of Hans. In my photo to the side Hans is the the tall guy on the right with the dark hair. We will see Hans in Meridian Ms over President's Day weekend. Heidi and I are baking Valentine goodies for Hans and his room mate. I need to go as Heidi has a Spanish class in town at 2:00.

hi there i'm sorry for the long delay in responding to your question, but i haven't checked my page in quite som time . As for my son Sampson he's doin quite well i must say other than bein a little bored at times and shopping i believe he's in the right place as far as the WARS is concerned. I thank-God everyday that he is not in some other places like Aphganistan, or Iraq so for the most part he's ok i talk to him practically everyday it seems like he's on vacation instead of bein in the Navy. Only thing i don't like about him bein in Japan is that it cost so much to go there and for him to come home. Overall i hear Japan is the best place for sailors to be only 4 people out of his division got to go. Thanks for your your Prayers & thoughts of my son. all we can do as parents is to continue to love, support and pray for our children and trust that they make the right decisions in life and trust God to see them thru God-Bless you
