Sometimes the lack of curiosity is amazing. Although, when my son began boot camp a year ago, the recruits were told to focus on today and not next week. Still, we ask him questions about things we think he would have a vested interest in and are ...

Hi Sandy! Thanks for sending me a note... I would love to meet you sometime for coffee. We are planning on attending Jesse's PIR on 1/30, so we will be leaving soon for that. How about getting in touch when I get back? We will return on 2/2, but meanwhile, feel free to email me at tunefulady@msn.com if you would like to exchange phone numbers and make some plans. Take care! Hope to talk to you soon! :)

Sandy-
Welcome Aboard!! This is a Great site for information and support!! Ispent hours on it at first just reading through the discussions and the blogs. The more I learned the more positive I was able to be when Aaron was hesitant or having questions. There is something I am always learning here. It is like a family-you realize you are not alone in the world :)

I need to talk to the recruiters in Ft Collins and let them know we are here and how many of us there are. I found out about the site through a friend who told me about the Great Lakes Training Center website.

Just wanted to say HI. We are from Lyons, 10 miles west of Longmont. Our son pir'd 10/3 and is also now in Pensacola. He is WAITING AND WAITING for Aircrew. When he arrived they said it will be 15 weeks before he starts aircrew training. He is doing better, but was homesick like crazy the first week. What A school is your son in? Did he have to wait long? Nice to meet you ....

So, enjoy your time here and I'm looking forward (along with the community) to reading more about you. :D

Welcome Sandy!

I live in Loveland so we're pretty close. My son has been in the Navy for 10 years now. It's never easy to have them far away but I have to remember that I moved away from my family, too! When your son is feeling blue, the best thing you can do for him is to let him know you miss him and love him, too, but encourage him to keep a positive attitude and know that things will get better as he advances and finds a place in the Navy that he really enjoys. He'll eventually make some good friends, too, and that will help.
