Typically it should only take one full day but there will always be exceptions. If you haven't taken the ASVAB already you will probably need to go to MEPS the night before to take the exam. If you already have a good score and depending on how far…

It depends, if you take the computer exam, they probably have them the instant you click you last answer. If it's the written exam, they have to run it through a scan tron thing but they probably have one right there so it only takes as long as it t…

I will do my best to help you guys. I know how hard it is. One of my favorite things about recruiting was watching these young men and women start such as exciting adventure. I was always so excited for them on the day they shipped out. I always cal…

I just talked to a trusted friend that is still in recruiting and he tells me they aren't hurting for SEALS the way they were a couple years ago, so if they don't have it on their contract prior to bootcamp they will have to wait until they get out…

I have to revise this a little. I just talked with a friend that is still in recruiting and he is telling me that times have changed and that they are no longer being given the chance to try out in bootcamp. They have to have it on their contract pr…

As a former recruiter I couldn't have said it any better! Thanks Crusty.

He will have a chance to take a physical fitness test prior to leaving for bootcamp. If he passes, they will write a new contract with BUDS on it. If he doesn't pass, he will have a chance to try out in bootcamp. If he doesn't make it there he will…

Sorry Hoppi! I stand corrected. There are always exceptions. When I was a recruiter, we always got a bad rap. I was refering to the recruiting community NC's. Career Counselors in the fleet are definitely helpful. Your butts aren't on the line to me…

That is awesome that he has a former SEAL helping him. They haven't made BUDS any easier since he was in I'm sure. They have however done away with BUDS training in the winter. They were loosing too many during that time of year. I was stationed in…

Wow BUDS! That is such a tough test. Have they told him the test that he will be taking. Swimming first (he must do the breast stroke or side stroke) then the pull ups, push ups, sit ups, and run. They really prefer them to enlist first under someth…

Here is the deal. You can talk to and join with any recruiter you choose UNLESS your son or daughter is still in High School. High Schools are assigned to each station and then within the station a specific recruiter will be assigned to that school.…

Wow, I could write for hours about this whole picking a job process. Parents are absolutely allowed to go to MEPS. The only reason a recruiter might tell you that your not is if your son or daughter has told the recruiter that they don't really want…

I'm so happy for you both that you had a pleasant experience. I know you are so proud, as you should be. It is trully an elite program. Her story sounds so familiar because I was in DEP 11 months before I left for bootcamp. Unfortunately the Nuke pr…

Hi Shannon...My daughter has been seriously considering joining, but has some insecurities about making the commitment. Knowing 10 benefits can be wiped out by hearing 1 bad thing. She doesn't know anyone personally who was/is the Navy except for the recruiter. Would you be willing to exchange e-mails and answer her questions?
