Hey Shari! I am so sorry we didnt get a chance to meet up with you at the mall last Saturday. Jay really wanted chinese so we ordered in and it took foreverr to get there. I did have the pleasure of meeting Andrew. I was so caught up in meeting everyone at once that I didnt get the chance to really thank him. I know he was very supportive of Jay through some of the harder times. When you talk to him could you please give him my best. Where is he at now? Hope you and Gracie are doing well! Keep in touch

He was so great on the phone...sked if he could give my son a message...told him to tell Scott that I loved him. Scott was still going through his security clearance stuff and had to call home to get addresses. He needed the address of the guy he lived with his freshman year of college. We had to call and leave him a message. He called back so then I had to try to reach Scott. I finally got through after 3 calss and was surprised that the Chief let me talk to him for about 2 minutes. Thought I was just going to leave a message. Andrew called me ma'am. Makes me feel so darn old but I know that's what they're taught.
Wasn't it great to get the call today? Both my husband and I were napping. When he picked up the phone and then said "Hi Buddy" I shot right out of the sleepy haze I was in. Did my spirits good to talk to him. Said BS is on Tuesday so we should get another call on Wednesday if all goes ok. He said they had one more written test~Firefighting. It's multiple choice si he isn't worried. Said he'd really have to be dumb to fail that one. Can't wait to meet you, Andrew, and that little pumpkin, Gracie Lou!

Hey Shari! How is Gracie Lou? She is too cute! Are you bringing her to PIR? Got a short letter from Jason this week and he sounded pretty good. They don't have much time for writing as this all winds down. I cant wait for PIR! I actually leave for IL a week from today so that is making it seem even closer! Did you hear from Andrew?

Hi Shari-
Did you hear from Andrew today? I got a call from Scott this morning looking for some information and his birth certificate for his new classification. Also got a real newsy letter. He sounded so upbeat in his letter but was very business like on the phone. Did get an I love you mom at the end of it though...that was worth it for me. I had my cell with me but on vibrate so I can carry it in my pocket at school. After I hung up I burst into tears and had to leave my classroom. Kids were really good about it though. Scott had been volunteering in my room before he left for BC. Would come in a couple of times a week to tutor reading and play at recess with the boys. He also made sure that he came for lunch just to hang with the kids. Kids loved him and he was a huge influence on some of my "tougher" guys. They all made him Christmas cards and I sent those to him a few weeks before the holidays. So, they understood my tears of joy this morning. Hope all is well your way! Take care, Jill

Hi Shari...any news this week? We got a letter from Scott on New Year's Eve and he sounded pretty upbeat. Of course it was written on Sunday and he was looking forward to all the inspections and such this week. I understand it was a pretty big week for them! I wish we'd get another phone call soon, at least before battlestations. I'm back to work tomorrow after a week and 1/2 off. My 5th graders will take my mind off of the Navy for awhile. You said you student taught 5th grade...did you do any teaching after you graduated? I serve as a cooperating teacher for a University of Wisconsin near by. I had a student teacher 1st quarter and will get another on Jan. 26th. I usually don't take 2 in a school year but no one else would so I stepped up. I figured that if no one would have given me a placement I wouldn't be where I am today....teaching for 24 years and loving every minute of it! Take care and let me hear from you...kiss that sweet baby of yours from me!

Welcome to Navy 4 Moms, this is an exciting website and very informative... We would like to invite you to the Blue Candle Lighting event that occurs in your home anytime you wish to light a candle for your recruit sailor or the military in general. This is done to honor their service during the holidays, birthdays, special events or if you just want to. The Home for the Holidays/Blue Candle Moms also ask you join us in this group. This event and group has no special connections to "any one group" We are all Navy Moms, Wives, and we became Blue Candle Moms.... this included everyone on this website. Please come join us and share your stories and your lightings and your holidays with your child...this was done because some moms were not having their sailors home, and we are support group that can share feelings and fears. Annouce your child is coming home or the despair of knowing on certain holidays it is your sailor we light the candles for. To honor them for the service in the past present and future. To honor those that gave the Ultimate Sacrifice for our freedom. We celebrate the freedom to be Blue Candle Moms and the freedom to light our candles anytime we choose. Please think about our group and the Event and when responding tell where you lit your candle, and the reasons for your paticular lighting. the event will continue and once you rsvp come in anytime and update your lightings
