Hi Shawne, Well where do I start. The missions can go anywhere from 30 to 100 days or more. It depends on how many guys they have at a time. They are not suppose to go over 45 days but they can. As far as communication it depends on the ship. If it is newer, they will be able to email you all the time. If it is an older ship then maybe you are lucky to get a phone call from the ships satalitte phone. Let me tell you, its not fun cause the ship moves and so does the satalite but I will take anything I can get. Michael right now is out on an old ship and I only have heard him twice now. What they do is mostly boring. They all have twelve hour watches two on two off and they guard their ships from pirates or any other threat. We never know where they are for their safety.

Michael has been doing this for about 2 years now and is finishing up his last mission. Like I said on the Bahrain moms page, they tend to collect alot of stuff. Michael has found a suit maker in town and everytime he comes back from a mission he has a suit made. Now most of them are hanging in one of our closets. He has been sending stuff home so he doesn't have to pack as much.
Bahrain is very safe, Michael has never had a problem. They always eat in town or have it delivered to the base. Michael says that everything can be delievered.

What else would you like to know? I look forward to talking to you more, Laura

Shawne it's a pleasure to meet you on the Bahrain page! I would be pleased to invite you to be a "friend" but I haven't the foggiest how to do it!! I only get so far and then I can't figure out the rest! --YES!! I ADMIT it!! I am totally clutzy when it comes to computers!!
I can just hear it:
"Hello. My name is EagleMom. And I am technically challenged. --That is one of the things I CANNOT change!!" Ha! Ha!

Hi Shawne, anytime you have a question I am happy to help. Michael just left for another mission on Thursday. They told him it would only be for a month but we will see. It sounds like our Navy is very busy rounding up pirates. Hope your son enjoys himself over there. My son did but is glad to be coming stateside in May. Talk with you soon, Laura R.

Hi Shawne
I was just reading about your son in Bahrain. My son is stationed there also. He too is out at sea fighting pirates. He had been out for over 90 days before going back to dry land then home for a week and now back out. Not sure when we will hear from him again. I try to keep tabs on him through myspace and facebook.

Shawnee -- Taylor just called - he just got more orders -- he has to go to San Diego for more training and had to leave in about 3-4 hours. Has charlie heard any thing yet? What is the base like in San Diego?

Talk later -- please keep in touch.

Hi Shawnee -- has Charlie gotten his orders yet or know when he has to go over? Taylor hasn't heard yet for sure. He graduates this Friday though. We are trying to get him to get his taxes done before he goes over. I think that the Finance office is suppose to help him with that. Last night he said that today they have to go in the gas chamber again and yesterday they had the written test on the M4. Last couple of weeks they qualified on the guns. We are so proud of him - he qualified expert on 9mm and sharp shooter on the other ones, even at night. Hope they never have to use them - but at least if they do - they now know what to do I guess. Talk to you later -- keep in touch.

Hi Shawnee - I'll have to ask my son if he knows exactly when he leaves. I hope they get to get their taxes done before they go over seas. I wonder if they will get their desert cami's before they leave or when they get there. Time is sure going fast. I hope we get to keep in contact with him quite often - then it won't be quite so bad.
