Let your granddaughter help with the letter writing. If she isn't old enough to write a letter, she can always color him a picture. Trust me it will mean the world to him. My youngest drew & colored one of my son's fav anime characters, & had me mail it to him at boot camp. He loved it. When he opened it, he broke down & cried. It reminded him of them watching cartoons together. They share those letters & pictures with their division mates, they are so proud of their families supporting them. I am sure it would make her feel included and very "grown up" to draw, color or write him a note.

All I can say is pray and write alot....I sent him all kinds of different things in the mail...comic strips from the newspaper, inspirational notes and poems, scripture verses, sports news, Jokes etc. Keeps them looking foward to something every day!
