Rainbow Wardrobe - my son is currently a blue shirt until all training and qualifications are met to become a Yellow shirt. He is the blue shirt on the left in the photo that I recently posted.

Color Coded Classification System
Those crewmembers who do have specific, clearly defined functions will be readily recognizable at a glance by the colored coded jerseys and helmets that denote their role. The color classification system is as follows:

Yellow Shirts-Controls/directs aircraft movement on the flight deck;
White Shirts-handles safety related jobs, including final inspections of airplanes and medical;
Brown Shirts-plane captains that watch over individual planes;
Blue Shirts-chock and chain planes in to position; drive the tractors that move the planes;
Green Shirts-attach planes to catapults and arresting gear;
Red Shirts-handles all weapons and ammunition;
Purple Shirts-fuel planes; and
Silver Suits-Handles aircraft crashes and fires.

Good morning Shirley, I am glad to hear all is well with you guys. My hubby's nephew passed last night-I will not tell Jay until we see him I guess. Don't want to put anything else for him to worry about out there to him. We just solved his brother's problem. That is so sad for the navy mom. I will keep her in my prayers and will look for it and offer up a prayer. Have a good week. Hope you are ready for Thanksgiving. Have a good week. Blessings and Hugs.

Hi! Pat worked hard and got the attention of his LPO's and Cheifs to where even tho he was a Blue he was given the Yellow float coat ( ask your son about that) and a Yellow Cranial w/a blue front. So he got a lot of experience as a Yellow. I'd say 14 mos? He actually had all his Quals done at 13 mos., was just waiting for his Board.ie oral exam in front of his DIV LPO's, Cheifs and Air Boss. The unique thing about Pat getting his Yellow is that he not a 3rd Class, he's an E3- Airman and that is rare. I'd say tell your son to study, study, study. don't wait to be asked if he has Quals to do, take the initiative and ask what Qual is next. Best of luck to him!
