About me:
My daughter is 20 years old. She just left for boot camp today. I have cried for the past 2 days. I know I must give her encouragement but I will miss her so.

Hi Susan, My son James is in Division 915 too! He's a trombonist in the band and will be stationed in DC after boot camp. I'm glad to find another mom with a young adult in this division. I found one more named Michele with a son, Eric on the drill team.

Hi Susan - I just read your post about your daughter being in Div. 915 - my daughter was at Great Lakes from Aug 12-Oct 5 and in Division 946 -so Megan is in the ceremonial division. She'll be part of the graduation ceremony (otherwise known as PIR (Pass-in-Review) as either part of the flags, choir, band, drill, etc. My daughter was in the band. Being part of the 900 Divisions usually means that she'll also perform at the two ceremonies on the Friday's before her own PIR. Now my daughter is at Little Creek in Norfolk, VA for her A-school. She is an MU (Musician) and in the spring she'll be heading to Japan to join the Seventh Fleet Band. An exciting time for her!
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask - we went to the PIR in October and it was a fun visit. My daughter was only 17 when she went and turned 18 just two days before she had her PIR. Kathy in Michigan

Welcome to Navy 4 Moms, this is an exciting website and very informative... We would like to invite you to the Blue Candle Lighting event that occurs in your home anytime you wish to light a candle for your recruit sailor or the military in general. This is done to honor their service during the holidays, birthdays, special events or if you just want to. The Home for the Holidays/Blue Candle Moms also ask you join us in this group. This event and group has no special connections to "any one group" We are all Navy Moms, Wives, and we became Blue Candle Moms.... this included everyone on this website. Please come join us and share your stories and your lightings and your holidays with your child...this was done because some moms were not having their sailors home, and we are support group that can share feelings and fears. Annouce your child is coming home or the despair of knowing on certain holidays it is your sailor we light the candles for. To honor them for the service in the past present and future. To honor those that gave the Ultimate Sacrifice for our freedom. We celebrate the freedom to be Blue Candle Moms and the freedom to light our candles anytime we choose. Please think about our group and the Event and when responding tell where you lit your candle, and the reasons for your paticular lighting. the event will continue and once you rsvp come in anytime and update your lightings.

Susan - I have been reading around - and saw your question on Karen G.'s page.
The 900 divisions are the performing divisions. They do all the nice things at PIR!! There is a band, choir, flags, and other things!! Your daughter will perform at the PIR before hers also!! You might want to "check into" that PIR and maybe get someone to get pictures of your daughtre!!

I'm about to go through what you are going through very soon. My daughter is being sworn in today, as long as she passes her physical. However, she's not leaving for a few more weeks. I have, however, put a son through boot camp just one year ago. He is in the Marine's. There boot is 13 wks. It was the most stressful time I've ever had. It felt as if I was willing him through. I say all that to say this. Don't do that! They are going to be okay and we can't will them through. The most comforting and most effective thing you can do is Pray. Our girls will be great.

We are so glad that you are here! This is a great place to meet others that know exactly how you feel!
We have something for everyone here groups from boot camp moms to overseas moms and moms that like to scrap book. We have meet and greets to events that the moms set up to meet each other and have dinner or an outing. There are groups to help you with each and every step of this wonderful adventure that our children have chosen called the US Navy.

Please tell us about your sailor and what they have chosen to do in the navy and ohh yeah we LOVE pictures of everyone !!
