Susan, copy/paste the link Valorie left you into your browser bar and you'll be welcomed into the Bangor group with open arms. I think you are probably the most experienced of all the moms I've met with Sailors at Bangor since your Matthew has been there since July.

I'm gonna go and send you a friend request right now.

Hi Susan,
Welcome to the group. A really good way to see what the area is like is through Google Earth. If you don't already have it, just google "google earth" - it is a free download and is easy to use. With it, you have satellite imagery of every place on Earth, and you can easily zoom down to specific spots, and in most populated places, see some truly mind-blowing detail. For photos, the program allows people to upload their own photos of spots and show where they are on the globe. Just zoom into any area, and you will notice small blue boxes with a white outline. Click on these, and a little window opens with a photo someone uploaded from that spot, and often, a link to a wikipedia article about that location. Clicking on the photo will enlarge it also. The program has too many features to go into, but you can get an idea of them if you google "google earth tour".

It's a group here on Navy for moms. Go to groups under the banner at the top of your home page and search for Bangor, just like the MAA group, you can add it. I am going to Bangor in two weeks, I am so excited! We live in Alaska and are driving my sons truck down the Alcan, it should take us about 3 days and then we will be able to spend a week there. Don't know that we'll have alot of time with him, but any is o.k. with me. Maybe I can even help him study a bit!
