Cryptological Technician

If it's CTN, that's what my son is doing. His PIR was 5/2 and he's in Pensacola waiting for the date to start his school.

I agree with Patricia Ann below. We also stayed at the Red Carpet Inn. It was great because it was only one mile from the base. Very convenient. Not 5 star by any means, not even close but it was cer…

Hi Tracy, My son graduated on 5/2. We rented a car but I saw the GPS idea, and that's a good one. That area has the worst directional signs on the highways. I heard the only problem with the shuttle…

I love Maryland. We lived there briefly at Ft Meade. We would love to go back but my husband is five years from retirement and looking to call Abilene home because this is close to our family.

Profile Information

About me:
II haven't been on this site in a long time so I thought it is time for me to update things. I live in Severn, Maryland (near Baltimore) and I am a nurse. I don't do hospital nursing. I am a Case Manager for a Managed Care Organization for Maryland Medical Assistance. No more shift work or weekends for me. I have a BS degree in Nursing from University of Maryland. My son graduated from boot camp In May, 2008 and recently graduated from his "C" school for Cryptology. He is stationed in Pensacola, Florida. He will be promoted to E4, 3rd class Petty Officer. I'm really proud of him since he has reached that rank in such a short time. Other than my son who is in the Navy, I have an 18 year old daughter who is a freshman at Hawai'i Pacific University in Honolulu and a 15 year old son who is a sophomore in high school. My daughter is attending Hawai'i Pacific on a cheerleading scholarship and while she is becoming home sick, she's lovin' the island life. She has been a cheerleader of some sort since she was a little girl. My youngest son does Tai Kwon Do and is presently a red belt and is moving quickly through the belt ranks. His goal is to achieve his black belt in less than 3 years total (less than a year from now.) My sailor just turned 21 in July 08. He is very athletic and still runs and plays soccer. He's probably in better shape now than when he was doing cross country and track in high school. His ultimate goal is to become an officer and is working toward applying to the Naval Academy. I have told him that it is all up to him. Hopefully, he'll maintain this goal and work hard to achieve it. Only time will tell.

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud, Encouraged him/her
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
how hard it is to see them grow up and leave the nest. I think the Navy has a lot to offer and I sure hope my son takes advantage of all the opportunities.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a wonderful 24 hours I have had. Got a letter from Patrick today and he was one of 5 recruits in his division that was promoted to E3. He was so happy and we are too (and proud too.) Also, last night, my daughter Brittany found out that she was selected as a Cheerleader for Hawai'i Pacific University. She tried out in Hawai'i last weekend and just found out. Tuition money is also connected to that. She is so excited and thrilled and we are so proud of her. Over 250 cheerleaders tried out. C… Continue

Hi Sue!
Great to hear from you! I haven't been on in a while either, just too busy with facebook (haha, but I am on there almost daily!). Jason has been up for several visits. At Christmas time, he was up for quite a while, but that was when we had no power for 11 days. Anyway, he now has an apt. with two friends who are also CTs (in a town that begins with "O". It's only been 3 weeks and he hasn't even changed his address yet so I can't remember. He took a math class at Ann Arundle Community College, so hopefully he'll keep taking classes.
We are returning Aug 1 for a long weekend. We have tix to see the Red Sox. My in-laws will be seeing the area for the first time.
I'm glad things are going well for Patrick and your daughter. What is her major? What about your other son? My son Ryan will be a senior and Shaunna will be a sophmore. She's still doing gymnastics and wants to do track too! We'll see how that all works.

Okay here, we made it through graduation and school and now my son is at his duty station in San Diego. He's coming home in Dec. for 2 weeks. then he goes on tour for at least 6 months. I hate to think about that! I'm gonna enjoy our visit. My other son leaves for boot camp in January for the marines. I'm really gonna be on pins and needles. Hope to hear from you soon and see what's going on with you?

Hi Sue,
Has your daughter gotten settled at school yet? Jason was home for the long weekend and was asking if your son has arrived yet. I guess there were some new people there and wondered if Patrick was among them.
I hope everything is going well!
