- Susan - our son just finished Gunnery school as well and is reporting to Portsmouth, MSRON Detachment 21, next Friday. It sounds like your son is in an adjacent squadron and has already started training. I'd love to hear what he's experiencing; would you be willing to email me at glenhobbes@yahoo.com with your email address? Good to hear from you. Lyall and Matt hang together and have for quite some time. Lyall talks about how cute Matts daughter is from the pics that Matt shares. And during "hold" when they were watching movies, Lyall always commented on Matt's movie library. haha Anyway, Lyall should be done with ATT by the 20th. He stated it has been very difficult with some circuitries and will be glad when it is over to start A school.

I guess if it's that cold, Gabe should stay inside anyway with his cold. I'm praying for all the guys who have to endure disciplinary action for someone else's mistake. - Gabe told me today that they put in their 'dream sheet', or whatever it's called, two months into A-school. What ship is your son on now? Is he still on the Enterprise? Gabe heard it was pretty strict and is a little nervous about moving there. He doesn't know exactly when he'll move. He's on the Franklin now and was on the Cole before that. Don't know why they have to move around so much. He really likes his roommates where he is and wishes he could stay there. Oh well. Maybe our guys could get in touch once Gabe moves. Then again, Gabe is only 18, turning 19 in Feb, so Matt might not want to hang out with someone that young, which is understandable.
I'll let you know if I find out anymore about Riverines. Keep me posted on how Matt is doing!

- Hi Susan! Did Matt get home okay for the holidays? How are you doing now? It is nice to be able to talk to Gabe regularly. He is adjusting, but they keep moving him around. First he was in the "Cole", now he is in the "Franklin", and he will move to the "Enterprise" once he starts SCC.
Have you found out anything more about Riverines? Gabe is really interested in that, but has no idea how to make it happen. Has Matt found anything out?

- Thanks! Gabe told me yesterday that his unit had 'duty' today so he wouldn't be able to call. I think the guys are still trying to figure out how things are done in this new situation. He said he would call me tomorrow between 4 PM and 8 PM, Great Lakes time. I'll let you know what I find out as well.

- Thanks, I hope so too! I'll have to ask Gabe about Matt. Gabe told me there were several people on hold that got their orders right away and were leaving today or tomorrow to go across the street. Maybe Matt was one of those. Was Matt always going GM, or did he have another contract before? I hope Gabe is wrong about not being able to come home, but he seemed pretty sure of himself. He is going to call again tomorrow, so maybe I'll get better news!
