Our Sailor went to NUKE school first and then got Sta 21. He's currently going to college in SC and will be commissioned as an officer when he graduates. I love hearing the different paths our Sailors take to get where they are going. Congrats Pat...

Hi Susie,
Its been about two weeks now since he deployed and I keep hoping soon I'll hear from him. I only hope I don't miss that call. We've been lucky with the weather here lately I just love it and am taking advantage of every minute of it. Talk to you soon. June

Susie hello, I am also adjusting to the empynesting and know it is good for my husbands and I's relationship. Is your son at Univ. S.Car. or Univ. of S. Calif.? My mother-in-law also lives in Charleston and I enjoy visiting her when ever we get to go. Have a great day.

Hi Susie, I would love to visit Charlston sometime. I hear it is very charming.I think you are right about prototype classes. It seems different then power school. Not as smooth. And Patrick say's some of the time no one knows what is going on. He will hang in. He has 3 good roomated. I saw the weather there for tomorrow 10 is the low. I worry about him driving. He is not used to that type of weather. He drives pretty fast. He is going snow boarding on Sat. He really likes that. His roomates are from snow area's. Hopefully they will help him. I guess we can't worry all the time. Thanks, Have a good week-end.

Hi Susie, Your son seems very busy.He will probably make it a career. Patrick like Power School better. Prototype is slow going. There are alot of hold ups.At least it is only 6 months. I am glad you will get to go to Charlston. It bet the town is beautiful at Christmas.I never have been there. It is nice to have a place to go where you know the people. I am happy for you and all your family to be together. Take care.

Susie, I've been away from my computer for several days. My mother-in-law, who lives with us, took a fall this weekend, broke and dislocated her ankle, and had to have emergency surgery. I've been sleeping in a chair at the hospital. I was able to convince her that I need to sleep in my own bed last night and am feeling like a new person this morning. She will be transferred to a rehabilitation facility today and then I need to make a quick five-day trip to Austin. So, again, I will be out of touch. Enough about me, how are you doing? I pray each day that our sailors will be home for the holidays. I know that they all can't be, however, it is what if wish for every mom. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you. You're such a good mom.

Hang in there. He knows you love him. I always try to think about his adventure and the good he is doing, it somehow helps. If I think about me, that is when I break down. I really try to be strong for him so that he doesn't worry about me. DJ is also very sensitive to me and my feelings so I know that I put him in a bad situation when I can't control myself. I also fear that he will pull away if I make it too uncomfortable for him. He better not, but I do think about it. His father tells me that DJ understands, but he's obviously not a mom and simply can't. Men!

About me:
We moved to Salisbury, NC two years ago. Since our youngest was already in the Navy we are emptynesters and still adjusting. I was a stay at home Mom for 25 years and have now "retired". I volunteer at the local hospital and help my ailing Mom who lives 45 minutes away. Oldest son is a Nurse and lives in Charleston, SC. Youngest is a NUKE in the Navy and currently attending college at USC. Proud of them both. Also have a new daughter in law who is also a Nurse.
I am here to support or represent my:
Evan
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
In college
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
To let go. Most difficult thing I've ever done as a Mom.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made
