Did Michael have an injury issue as well? Do you think he'll go back to spec ops? Gabe talks a lot about it. He has two great friends who were both dropped for minor injuries, and they all three plan to go back when their term is done in their cur...
Hey, Lisa...Gabe got his orders last week. He is defintely headed for Memphis. His grad date is supposed to be 2/13, but he has been accelerated, so I don't know if that will change. I'll keep you posted. Let me know if Freedom will be playing dow...
Yeah, I remembered who you were after I signed off last time. How could I have forgotten? So much has happened in the past year, and we found out a lot about that adventure he had in bc, thank Heaven! Turns out it was all a good thing, but how are...
Thanks, Joyce. We used to live in Virginia Beach, so we know our way around a little bit. I'm sure the area has changed a lot since my husband and I were dating 21 years ago! Yep, that was Gabe that was asked to sing at the airport last Christmas....
Hey Joyce and Ivan,
My son is also at Little Creek. He's at the school of music. Being the youngest at the school of music, he got to help cut the Navy B-day cake. I wonder if it was the same one your daughter baked! Gabe is a vocalist. If Heathe...
Hi Julie,
Was Michael in division 803 or 031?
When traveling in the Little Creek area, you MUST go to Williamsburg. You probably already know that, but I thought I'd put it out there just in case. The Norfolk Inner-Harbor area and the mall there...
Hi All,
My sailor is now at Little Creek in MU school. He will be there until February. Anyone with a loved one in music school? My son is a vocalist/entertainer/auxilliary percussionist.
I come from a four-generation Navy family. My husband, Ray, and I have been married for 20 years this month. Ray works for a government contractor developing software for the DHS. Gabe is our oldest, and the first to "leave the nest". We have four children. I have home schooled our children since kindergarten. Gabe graduated in December of 2007 and planned to study Marine Biology at the University of Alaska. (We lived in Alaska at the time.) Once we moved to Arizona, he decided to attend Arizona State for a year then transfer to Alaska. We first visited our local recruiter to inquire about the NAT program to help Gabe pay for college. After a few weeks, Gabe got the SEAL "bee in his bonnet" and that was that. He left for boot camp today, 08OCT08.

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
The opportunities are limitless and exciting. And, Navy For Moms ROCKS!
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.
Hi Susie, Love your pics....My husband works for the FAA and before that with Temsco Helicopters which are based out of Ketchikan....Anyway, we moved for the same reason that you and your family did....family... Both our families live in Florida and they are up in age and have many health problems... and we wanted to be closer to them. ...At the time when we were looking at our choices of place to come to with paid moves...Springfield, IL. was the only one open.....so here we are! As you know, its not cheap to move out of Alaska ... and with us... our options were limited to either boat or plane...even with the permanet fund...lol ...but we would love to move back...but to the interior of Alaska....maybe Fairbanks. ...We would got back not only for the beauty of Alaska but also for the close net community....you just don't make a friends there....you BECOME apart of whole families and even whole villiages. ...We still stay in touch with the families that we became very close to and some are still in Juneau and even in Ketchikan and some have moved to Wasitla. One of my best friends and her family moved to OK. to be closer to their families as well. (her husband is with the FAA too) 5 of their 12 children are in the military...but thats another story...lol ...How did your family come to live in Alaska and why would YOU move back? Now the ball is back in your court....lol ...Hope that I will be hearing from you soon and may I add you to my friends list.... Karen C. :-D
OH My gosh, how did I miss the 4 generation part? Have I asked you before to put some pictures on the Navy History group? Sorry if its redundant! anyhow, leaving in 2 days, thanks for everything.
The boys have been wanting to skydive since last summer. Is Gabe skydiving with the navy? I am glad to hear he is doing well in school. Its hard to imagine them 1/2 way across the world. That is too far!!!(wah wah wah)LOL. Good luck on your move!
Your young Sailor signed a contract for the rate he is in school for, he can't switch ratings until after either 1) he completes "A" school and has been in the rating for 2 years 2) fails out of "A" School and than will be reclassed to the needs of the navy ratings.
This is tornado season in Oklahoma now. We are pretty used to it. We have great weather men that keep up up to date on the weather. So Ray is in Alabama??? When will you be heading out there? How is Gabe doing? We are looking forward to seeing Stu on May 1. He will be here until May 17. He has to report in Guam on May 20.
When he called he told me he saw Gabe in a wheelchair and talked to him. I wasn't sure you knew it had happened so I didn't say more! I'm glad it's not too serious! I kept checking your page to see any news, so thanks for writing--I was worried. Andy is busy. Usually I talk to him once a day, but this week, days have gone by. I finally called last night, and he was going to take a nap. He's on duty from midnight till ? one day a week, and the day changes every week. That's hard! I think he likes it there, seems settled, never wants to see Afghanistan again. We just got word that a soldier from here was killed in that suicide bombing in Mosul, so I'll have flag duty this week with the PGR. Wednesday I'm going on the Honor Flight with a WWII veteran, too. I'm just glad Gabe is ok!
Hi Susie, That's great to hear Gabe is doing well. And Congrats to your younger son Nathanael. And your doing such a wonderful job! Moving into another house? How are the plays coming along?
KC is doing okay on the most part. He's been struggling on & off mainly due to being away on his first deployment. They will all be home soon...CAN'T WAIT!!
Hi Susie!!! wow!! Hunstville is going to be a big change for your whole family!! how exciting! =] one of the good things is that you're coming south closer to summer time so you'll start off by enjoying the weather. Also, congratulations to Nathanael for being acdepted to the Naval Academy Summer Seminar! is he planning on attending during the school year too?
And how is Gabe liking his ATT classes? They skydiving pictures look really neat! I think I especially like them because I would love to skydive sometime. ohhh and does he get to perform in the choir?
Billy's doing great also. He starts clinicals tomorrow and he graduates in only 12 days!!! I'm so excited because I'll be seeing him for his graduation so I just can't wait. We were really lucky in that he got his orders and got his number one choice-- Jacksonville, Fl. So next semester he's going to be only 1.33 hrs away!! =] I can hardly believe it considering that it seems like so long ago that he left for bootcamp and still is about a thousand miles away.
Ohh and my Habitat project was amazing! It was honestly the best spring break ever, and just being able to build affordable housing for low income families makes one feel so good.. so much better than doing nothing back at home or just watching tv. lol
Sorry to overwhelm you also!! but have you packed for the move yet? how's your family??
hope to hear from you as well!!
