I was told the connection from the ship to shore is terrible. And the lines for the phones are huge. I am happy to have an e mail with what is going on. Sometime the e mails are almost like texting if he is on the same time as me.

Don't forget to send white t-shirts. They go thru them like no buddys business....the kind with the nice crew neck collars are the best.

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
The Navy is the job our son choose. We support him and encourage him. We are thrilled at all the responsibility the Navy is trusting him with. We are excited and Proud watching him grow into a wonderful man.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Thank you for the welcome. I know Chief Ambriz, and he is a great guy. All the recuiters down in Las Cruces are a class act.I had been meaning to offer up myself for questions earlier, but things have been moving fast, and I finally got a chance for a breather. i am originally from the Albuquerque area, and I have enjoyed my time back. If you or any of the other moms out there have any questions, feel free to send me a message.

Well said about letting your kids grow. I am so with you! Too many parents won't let go and let the child be an adult. I'm glad you had the nerve to say it!

Hi Suzann
My son is a Yoeman Chief Petty Officer (SW) currently stationed at the Pentagon working with the Master Chief of the Navy. He is hoping to get a ship out San Diego this Dec. I would love to have him closer for a while . We are from Albuquerque. What does your son do aboard the USS Harry Truman?

Hi Suzann - I've warned him to expect hot and humid weather but I'll pass on the additional warnings! He's an Arizona boy and knows hot but not much of the other stuff! :) His rate is Aviation Maintenance. Best wishes to your son as well! Thanks!

Hi Suzann: Just saw your comment on Norfolk Moms and followed your link, noticing that you are in NM. Was wondering if you all have ever done the Bataan Memorial Death March at White Sands? I know that it is tomorrow, but I didn't train for it this year. I'd be walking the Race. Am seriously thinking of trying to do it next year tho. Just looking for anyone possibily in New Mexico who might have done it. Maybe we should have a N4M contingent?
