I work for a mechanical contracting firm as a mechanical designer, which means I design and draw heating/air conditioning & piping for the commercial industry. I have so many emotions I have a hard time keeping up with them. But first and foremost I am extremely proud of him. His PIR from BC is Oct.9 and then on to Nuke school. Hi Tammy! Thanks for asking about Steven, he seems to be doing good. He called me 3 times this past Sunday. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the 847 area code on my cell. :) He said he can't wait until PIR & then A-school. I think he just wants to get the heck out of boot camp. Haha! Hope Shane is doing great as well! Have you heard from him recently?
I won't be able to make it to the meet n greet, wish I could! My plane arrives at 7:30pm so I think it would be too late. I can't wait to meet you at PIR though! It sounds like it's going to be amazing!!! I can't wait! See you in 3 days! Happy & safe traveling to you & your family!

Hi Tammy, spoke to Steven today! YAY!!! He said he knows your son "Fish" and he thought it was "so cool" that you and I connected as well. :) I posted a note on the group site about what Steven told me about our div. Let me know if you have any questions. :) Hope all is well!

Hi Tammy, I will ask Steven if he knows a "Fish" He mentioned to me that after the first week was over, they were able to talk to each other a little more and make friends. That's funny that Shane also shared that story with you about the div talking & he seems to have the same out look as Steven. Thanks for sharing!

I am but I have alot of securities on there, so if you try to friend me, you might have a hard time. Just email me with your user name or email address if you are on facebook and I will try and find you. Let me know if you have any questions. Looking forward to meeting you on Sunday. It's at the Military Park at Guilford Courthouse, New Garden and Old Battleground Road, at 1:00 in the Visitor Center.

My son and his wife live in base housing there. To my knowledge they were not given the choice of living off base. They are expecting their first child in May. My daughter-in-law loves the house and has had so much fun making it a home. Jeff never gave me many details about the process other than there was a lot of paperwork. I will be more than happy to ask him any questions you may have. Just let me know.

Tammy, Your son will have the option of on or off base housing. If he chooses on base housing, then they will show him the housing, but ultimately they will assign what is available. If you and/or your son would like to see the inside of a unit, let me know. My son would be more than happy to show you his. Marie

I read your post on NUKE moms. My son, Justin arrived in GC recently. He is married and has a small baby. After PIR, he went down to Goose Creek wiht the rest of the sailors. During the first week there, while every one else was in Indoc., the married sailors are given the paperwork that they need. They are also shown the base housing and if they choose to live on base, they are then assigned a house. The spouse can then move down there. I was really impressed with all of the help that they were given. Justin has moved in to the house and his wife and baby will return there after the holidays. We have already seen the house and it really is very nice. The base is in the process of remodeling. The duplex that they were given has just been completely done. They have everything new from the walls to the flooring to the kitchen appliances. It looks as if the Navy has just gutted the old house and completely renovated it. They are really happy with what they have. Hope this helps you and your son. If you have any other questions, let me know. I will be glad to help in any way that I can...Marie
