My son left yesterday and i received his call last night telling me he had arrived. I knew this was going to be hard but i just did not realize it would be this hard. I have not stopped crying, i know it will get easier but if anybody has any helpful hints till then i would really appreciate it. And one more thing when can he write his first letter. God i miss him so much.

Hi Tammy, haven't seen you on the site in a while. Hope all is well, expect you're busy enjoying your new grandchild. T is on medical hold at the moment with a stress fracture - 12 weeks. He is already climbing the walls as there is pretty much nothing for these guys to do. He thought they would at least let him attend any academic classes but nothing. Says he volunteering for anything and everything up for grabs just to pass the time. How is your son doing. Just got the DVD from PIR the other day - all the emotions surfaced again but very bitter sweet since T will not be advancing with 279 and will really miss this great group of guys.

Hi Tammy, wow, what an exciting year you are having, a new sailor and your first grandchild. I think I read somewhere that at the moment whilst they are allowed off base they are not allowed to travel further than 50 miles so I guess they won't be coming home for the weekend. T didn't say anything about what he is doing for the w/e but I am sure Six Flags hasn't escaped his notice, he loves that stuff so I think it's a pretty sure bet he'll be there. He and some friends went to Chicago this weekend and shopped and saw a movie - sounds just like being at home! I visited San Diego over 20 years ago and loved the area so I'm glad to have an excuse to go back again. Have a great holiday w/e and don't forget to breathe!

Hi Tammy, just talked to T and he said they are on hold at until next Wednesay so I guess they are waiting for the class to fill up. He's in Class 279, do you know which one your son is in. I'm not sure how many they have in each class. T is soooo happy where he is. They are all working out together and motivating each other. It's so nice to hear that they all want each other to do well and are working well as a team. I will still worry about him and what lies ahead but I have to keep telling myself this is what he wants and it's making him happy. Guess that really is all we want for our kids eh?

He didn't mention anything about leave for Memorial Day w/e but I did read somewhere they do get liberty. Are you going up to see your son? I'd love to go up and see him again but I have work so I'm holding out for him getting a couple of weeks between pre-Buds and Buds. Isn't it great to have contact with them again.

Hi Tammy, we didn't hear anything about leave on Memorial weekend, just that he might get two weeks after pre-buds. We haven't made any plans to visit again until we know when he has leave. We get a text from him every time something pops into his head which is great. He said everything is a bit more relaxed compared to BC and he's happy to be able to start some serious PT. I'll let you know if I hear anything.

Hi Tammy, I'm still flying high after the weekend, what an experience. 825 getting the Honor Div award was the cherry on top! We were able to spend the whole weekend with T once he'd been 'processed' across the street and we packed so much in, the mall, Chicago and a movie. He was so happy to have his cellphone he texted eveyone he knew and said it was great to have some connection to the outside world. Now we go on to the next phase but I think it will be a lot easier now that we can have more contact with them. This was certainly the best Mother's Day ever. How was your experience?

Hi Tammy, I've had a smile on my face all day today! I'm not sure what time we will get to spend with T because he doesn't know if he has any watches scheduled but you're right, we'll take whatever time together we can get. From what he said I think most recruits have been sick with something or other a lot of the time, he said he's had a sore throat since he got there and is actually getting used to it. Five full days to go before we see them and then the next adventure begins - are we ready for this?

Hi Tammy, I just got the call - they're sailors now. Congrats to your son. T was telling me that Div 825 got the highest score ever for battlestations. He sounded very upbeat but quite tired. Have to say I feel that way too, it was a long day waiting for the call now we just have a week to go before we see them.

Hi Tammy, thanks for the link. I'm not a control freak by any means but the urge to be there to make sure he is OK is overwhelming. I'm trying to focus on next week, we are flying up Thursday but not sure if I'll be able to get to the meet and greet as we have to pick my daughter up from the airport later that evening. Maybe we should all be wearing those "hello, my name is..." stickers at PIR so we can find all our friends!!!!!! Good luck to our boys tonight.

Hi Tammy, did you hear anything about Battlestations. I read somewhere that 825 does theirs Thursday Apr 30th. Haven't had any confirmation from anyone else but I'm already getting very nervous and doubt I will sleep much that night and will be anxiously waiting for the call on Fri. Of course if I have got this wrong then it will be even more agonising. How are you doing?
