Hi all. I am new to the group. My son is on his first deployment and is a CTT aboard the Nimitz. I feel like I have so much to learn as a Navy mom!! I am still getting frustrated with the "I can't answer that" answers! It is taking 3-4 weeks for box…

Tanya, There's a new sailor named Adam who just joined the crew of the USS Nimitz! Hope you are doing well, and that Ben is doing great! Ethan finished A school in April, and is now stationed in Jacksonville, Florida...he also got married in July!

Tanya,
How is Ben doing? Ethan is doing ok. His classes for AM finally started Today, so he is much happier about being down there. He has also started seeing someone, another sailor. She an AME. I guess they are happy to
just get to know each other, Ethan says they are doing fine on the PDA stuff, as he is pretty shy and not too inclined to get all that "smoochie"
with anyone anyway, esp. in public! I sent you a friend request, as I had to abandon my old profile. It wasn't connecting correctly to my page, and I was having lots of trouble responding to people in a timely manner--I had created another profile to try and fix the problem, then found that I had a split personality with I was talking to people on both profiles. It got to be a real mess, so I think I am down to one working profile now, unless somebody clicks on the old one. I guess it's true that nothing is ever truly lost in cyberspace! it's always out there, somewhere,...floating...

Tanya--
Happy to report that Ethan is doing much better--part of his homesickness was my fault, I'm afraid. I was calling or texting him every day, so he had me on his mind constantly. We've reached an agreement, and he is going to pick two nights a week to call me when it is convenient for him (I told him I could not go cold turkey, lol!), and I will hold off on nonessential communication (I did text him today about some tax info). I need to get a hobby...
Ethan sounded good today, on his return text. I think it is just getting to him about the long wait to class up. He has been in Pensacola since mid-September, and his class for aviation mechanic will finally start in early to mid-March. After that, I think my sailor will truly feel like he belongs to something BIG..."A" school should settle him down, and help him to focus on the task ahead...

Tanya!
How is Ben doing? Ethan is doing ok now, but he managed to get home for Christmas and then fell into the doldrums when he returned to Pcola due to
a bad case of homesickness. I reminded him that he was able (most days) to go outside in t shirt and jeans and see sandy beaches and sun--while I am up here in Iowa, suffering from a slight case of frostnip (my fingers were purple and swollen after only 3-5 minutes outside Wednesday night), shoveling snow and sniffling around...
I also cheered him when he told me about getting Phase 3 and the pay raise they all got in January. He said, "yeah". Very understated, my son.
Is Ben happy where he is at? Ethan is still waiting to class up, and I think that this has been a major contributing factor to his discontent.
Being a minister, I am sure that Ben has Faith to help him through any rough spots he might encounter. Ethan found Faith when he was 11, and was baptized in the St. Croix River up in Minnesota in 2001. We were baptized together, so it was very meaningful for both of us.
Take care, and I will continue to pray for you and your familiy...
