About me:
I have been married for 20 years this May. I have 3 children, and my oldest just left today for boot camp with the United States Navy. I am an emotional wreck right now. I hate being at the house with out him here! My heart is both full of pride and sorrow. I know this is normal, and time will help my broken heart, but it's still hard at the moment. My two younger children are ages 11 and 6 and are VERY proud of
their big brother!
I am here to support or represent my:

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was relieved
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
The heart ache I'm feeling is very normal. I had a million questions for his recruiting officer this week. I just can't believe how the time has flown since he first talked about joining to him actually boarding a plane to Chicago in 1 hr.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
The Navy has a lot to offer

My son graduated from boot camp in Great Lakes on Dec. 24, 2008. What a Christmas Gift!!! I was soo proud! I know how hard he worked to get to that moment. We've heard LOTS of boot camp stories (memories he'll have for a lifetime). I can't imagine not having him home for Christmas. Not having him for Thanksgiving broke my heart. My heart goes out to all those moms who's children weren't with them through the holidays! My son reports to his A school Jan. 4th. I don't know how I'm going to deal wit… Continue

Hi Tena, yea!!! finally someone! I was beginning to think Div 47 was made up of only Michael lol! Yes I live in Oklahoma close to OKC. We will be driving to PIR, plan to arrive in GL on the 23rd and will be leaving when PIR is done. Michael get's to come home with us. I have received 3 letters and 1 real phone call last Saturday. He sounded really good. He said it's not so bad as long as you keep your mouth shut and do as your told. He said they do a lot of extra exercises because people won't stop talking, that is the only problem he is having cause it makes him angry. We are staying at the Navy Lodge. What kind of arrangements did get made this morning? How are you getting there, where are you staying? I will mention Sirron in my next letter as well. So glad your here.

Hi Tena,
You are very close. I recieved a phone call yesterday, which I actually missed, because I didn't have my phone with me. That will never happen again, I didn't expect for him to call again that soon. Thank God his girlfriend was at my house, he called her and I made it just in time to talk to him. He sounds so different already. This was actually my second phone, besides the quick one I recieved when he arrived at BC. The Navy is doing him well. I think it has alot to do with the fact that he is Section Leader in is division. Well, it was great hearing from you and becoming a friend. Hope to hear from you soon. Maybe we can get together. There are a couple of families that are in Mesquite, and Forney. Talk to you later

Hi Tena,
I know how you feel, my son left on 10/28 and it was the most overwhelming thing I have been through in a long time. He is in Great Lakes, IL. We too live in Mesquite. How old is your son, and what high school did he go to? I miss having him around the house, but what gets me through is lots of prayers and the reassurance that he is in God's hands. I know that this was harder for me then it was for him, but I know that in this uncertain world, he is better off in the Navy. He graduated high school, and for a year he had no direction, going from one job to the other, he even went to ITT Tech for a while, but that got too expensive. Your son will do great, and it does get easier. I just recieved a phone call from my so today, and that makes it all better. I can tell he is maturing and becoming a man. I wish you the best.

Tena , I know how you are feeling right now. I have been there . Just continue to pray for him and I will also pray for him and you as well . Because I belive that prayer is what got me thru my son's graduation on 10/31. I left on November 3,2008 back to Lockhart . He is going to do just fine. You are going to make it.
