Was concerned or afraid
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
He didn't join just because his brother had joined the Marines. He wanted to serve his country and learn a trade at the same time.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.
My son just started his FMTB training at Camp Pendleton this week. He loves being a corpsman. While he was waiting to class up he was able to come home every weekend - we live 3 hours from CP. It was great seeing him every weekend. I am so proud of him. He worked very hard in A school so that he could choose FMTB. His hard work paid off. He is right where he wants to be.

That would be very hard to deal with, but it is ultimately his decision (unfortunately). My son is stationed in San Diego, but out to sea for a while. He seems to be enjoying himself out there, of course there are times he isn't having so much fun.

I have a friend whose son is a Ranger medic in the Army and she finally learned to deal with his deicision, but it was hard. You just don't what to see your family (especially your children) in harms way.

If you ever need to talk, let me know.

Have a great day,
Cheryl

Hi Teresa,

I noticed that you live in North Edwards, well I live in California City. My son has been in the Navy for just over a year and is on the USS Stennis. Were is your son stationed at?

I still don't know Teresa. I am on pins and needles waiting for a call from Mike. It sound like lot of the other moms with same PIR have been hearing from their kids, some have not passed battlestations yet and have to re take to hopefully grad on time. I heard that div 006, 007, and 008 are doing it tonight. I hope our kids did it already and don't have to wait until the last day because then what if they don't pass and can't grad on time, it would be awful. Keep your phone close in case you get a call. If you do let me know. good luck! only 3 days left.

Battle Stations is their final test and if they don't pass no graduation it gets delayed until they pass. I was told no news is good news but I have become an expert worrier. I am planning on going to Flanagans. My flight gets into Ohare Thursday around 4pm, the check in to the hotel in Waukegan and then I will go to Flanagans.

Hi Teresa,
Yes Michael called on Saturday and told me then that he was sending the parking pass home and information on hotels where to stay also said we could possibly stay at the Navy Lodge. How is your son doing? Michael loves it. Where are you all from, we are from Beaverton, OR. Well, look forward to keeping in touch. Take care.

Dear Teresa,
How are you doing?
The one bad thing about Military, they are so far away. I haven't seen Kim since June. She does call on Fridays, but I can't put my arms around a phone!! UGH!!
That's nice that you have family in Chicago, if Mathew wants to pay them a visit.

Between my husband and I, the family all died, no more Aunts or Uncles. I have one counsin to my name, and once he got married, that was the end of that!! What a shame, we were close, we were raised like brother and sister.
His wife stopped him from associating with the family.

I feel so bad for my kids, no counsins, no one. I did my best for the holidays, tried to think of different things to do, it was only the five of us.

Let me get going.
You take care and God bless

Dear Teresa,
How are you doing? This Navy for moms is such a blessing!
You have two sons in the Military, God bless you and your sons!!

Where is Mathew now in the Navy?

My daughter Kim finished A School and is waiting to be stationed. She was trained to read the radar.
I hope to hear from you again.
Take care and God bless.
Barbara
