Teresa, I've been thinking of you a lot since our telephone conversation on Monday. Thought I'd send you a little guardian angel to help you through.
Hugs and please call if I can help in any way. Peace to you my friend, Kathy
Due to flight delays he left Jacksonville at 6 pm. we got the call well after midnight. He was so beat down you felt sorry for him. Jackie said that I could call recruiter next week he should have Gage's address before I get the postcard. All ready have written 3 letters...lol will keep you posted, and again, Thanks
Teresa,
You called it!!! It didn't hit me initially, but I REALLY miss him. His dad, who rarely shows emotion (navy man that he is), is really having a hard time. I've only seen this man cry 3 times and it was his mothers death, his heart attack and Gage salute....wow Maybe the should have a navy4Dads too...wink
Teresa....thank you for remembering Gage's bootcamp date! That was very sweet. I am actually not very nervous, a bit anxious but only because he is. LOL I have told him so many times this week how much I love him and how proud that he actually sees me coming and says "mom, I know" before I can say a word...It is hysterical!! Now it can all change tomorrow and I can become a blubbering idiot, but for now I am just trying to keep him calm. Thanks again for remembering. I look forward to meeting you!
Hi Teresa! That's the Navy for you... you live in Jacksonville and your son is at Whidbey. We live near 6 Navy bases but my son is in Jacksonville. You will love the Whidbey Island area. Have you been to the Northwest before? Our late August weather is wonderful, highs in the 70's with lows in the 50's. That pretty much describes our whole summer. The end of September the weather starts to turn and we will have frosts in October. November the gray sets in with the light rain and the heavy rain, and the wind, and the snow... 6-8 hours of daylight in the winter months. Highs in the 40s lows in the the 30s. Don't come then. You will probably fly into Seattle. I would plan a day there if you can. The waterfront shops are fun to explore. The Pikes Place Public Market is really cool. Are you renting a car? You may want to take the ferry from Mukilteo to the southend of Whidbey and drive up the island. Otherwise you will drive up I-5 and take SR-20 to Fidalgo Island and then south to Whidbey Island. If you can, do that loop it's very pretty. Anacortes (my hometown) is on Fidalgo Island. It's a neat little town on the water. When I met my husband he was stationed at Whidbey. Our first apartment was just off the base there. We live on the Kitsap Peninsula near Poulsbo. Fire up Googlemaps and you can find us.
