Hi Norma, Yes, my son is on the LKC. He has been on board since June of 07. I was happy to come across this group. Michelle, I love the photo you posted! I like the idea of e-mailing the Ombudsman about the new group. Perhaps more Mom's will join. I…

Hooray for LKC's rescue of the Somali refugees. Before hearing about the Project Handclasp that our sailors participated in while in the Maldives, I had no knowledge of the Navy's goodwill missions. Our sons and daughters are not only learning new t…

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Needed to learn more about it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
I've learned to cherish every phone call...... e-mail...... and the occasional visits home. I never take these special times for granted.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Terri, Yes I will be there for their homecoming. I wouldn't miss it for the world. What a site to see the ship coming under the bridge and seeing all those men standing on board. That's when I will start crying and probably won't stop until he gets off board. Hope to be able to meet you there. Keep up the faith, they will be back before we know it. ... Lynn

Hi Terri,

Just noticed you are a newer member of a group I also belong to -- Moms of Officers. Welcome aboard. My daughter graduated from the academy last May. Feel free to visit my page as well, Sherry

Yes, Danny will be promoted the end of May as well. He can't wait. What with the wedding, he says he could really use the money! Is your son a SWO?

Dear Terri,
I love animals. My puppy I might fling out the window though!!!! I can't get him to housebreak, it's two months we have him. I have never had any problems with any puppy housebreaking before. He's adorable, and a good puppy, it's just the housbreaking!! UGH!!

Next weekend Kim wants to drive out again. My heart is in my throat!! UGH!! I begged her to take the train or bus, of course not. It's a 7 hour drive.
God forbide anything happened on the high way, a young girl alone.

I have heard that San Diego is beautiful. How long is your son's deployment expected to be?

Kim can't wait until ther ship pulls out, she's dying to see other states and or countries.

You take care and God bless,
Barbara

Hi Terri,
Yes, the Blue Angels pic is from graduation week. I was there all week and saw the show and the rehearsal the day before. It was awesome. The whole week was. My youngest got a pic as they flew over the stadium at graduation that was really good and clear. The Michigan parent club gave each of our firsties 2 silver dollars for grad week with their names on them - one to give and one for a keepsake. The first guy to salute Rachel was excited to be her first and to get the dollar. Joey didn't wear his Marine uniform so he wouldn't have to salute his sister...
She is my oldest, and it was hard when she left for Annapolis, but we made it. She had a great sponsor family and that helped. She really loves flying and I'm glad she has the opportunity to follow her dreams.

Hi Terri,
You asked if my son is in San Diego. He hopes to be stationed there eventually. He graduated from Arizona State Univ in Economics. He went to OCS one year out of college. He is now doing temporary duty in Phoenix, his hometown (he lives with us), until he classes up to Supply School in early April. There was a real back log of OCS and Naval Academy graduates waiting for Supply School, so although he was commissioned from OCS on Sept 26th, he's been waiting all this time to go to Supply School. That is a 6 month program and then in September '09 he will get his permanent station and I'm sure be deployed right after that. My son's girlfriend is in college at USD, and our family is in Phoenix, so all of us hope he is stationed in San Diego (or Hawaii would be nice too). Thanks for your information.

Welcome to Navy 4 Moms, this is an exciting website and very informative... We would like to invite you to the Blue Candle Lighting event that occurs in your home anytime you wish to light a candle for your recruit sailor or the military in general. This is done to honor their service during the holidays, birthdays, special events or if you just want to. The Home for the Holidays/Blue Candle Moms also ask you join us in this group. This event and group has no special connections to "any one group" We are all Navy Moms, Wives, and we became Blue Candle Moms.... this included everyone on this website. Please come join us and share your stories and your lightings and your holidays with your child...this was done because some moms were not having their sailors home, and we are support group that can share feelings and fears. Annouce your child is coming home or the despair of knowing on certain holidays it is your sailor we light the candles for. To honor them for the service in the past present and future. To honor those that gave the Ultimate Sacrifice for our freedom. We celebrate the freedom to be Blue Candle Moms and the freedom to light our candles anytime we choose. Please think about our group and the Event and when responding tell where you lit your candle, and the reasons for your paticular lighting. the event will continue and once you rsvp come in anytime and update your lightings

Hi Terri,
I know that feeling of hearing their voice and just being able to hear them, it is incredible. I too am happy you got to talk to Michael. I would love to arrange a spot when they come in so we can meet, I would not feel so alone and since we live in New Jersey, I may just be coming out alone or with Jackie's one brother. I know I will be there! I would love to see the pictures since I have never even been to San Diego and if your comfortable with it, I could give you my e-mail address, but either way I am thankful for us finding each other and any news I get from Jackie, I will gladly share with you. She keeps writing and telling me she does not have much time to write and now she will be taking her boards in 5 days.
I am not to computer savy but I will try to get some pictures up here soon. Thanks for the info on the Lake Champlain web page, I am going to check it now.
I got a big chuckle about "the same boat" pun and it is soooooo true.
Thanks for making my day (or I should say night here) so much brighter.
Your "shipmate", Sue

Dear Terri,
You know about skinks? Oh that's funny. No one knows what they are, that's why I put my picture up. That's my Rachel, she's a blue tongue skink.
She' my baby, she loves to cuddle. I have her four years this month. She was 6 inches long when I bought her!! HAHA!!

Kim surprised us this past weekend, she drove up. This was her first drive. I was a nervous wreck, she was alone on a 7 hour drive. So far, thank God, she loves the Navy.

She is stationed in Virginia on the USS Normandy. The ship is docked for a year, so she's soding odd jobs. She was trained to read the radar.

How is your son doing?
Have you heard form him lately?
I hear San Diego is beautiful.

I hope to hear from you again.
Take care and God bless.
Barbara

Hi Terri, My daughter also had her cell phone suspended while on deployment but had a Verizon pay as you go phone with her and did call me last Friday and said they were off the coast of Mauii. They had some drills and then would be moving on to join the fifth fleet. Last Sunday she e-mailed me to tell me she was no longer in range for the cell phone and could not say what port they were heading towards, but as long as I can e-mail her I am happy. She is my only daughter and I miss her terribly. I plan on coming out to San Diego to greet the ship when they come back. I wouldn't miss it for the world. I am thrilled to know someone else with a child on the ship. I already feel a connection. Thanks and keep in touch. Sue
