You know when my son went to boot camp this website answered questions, listened to my concerned and supported me when I was angry, sad, lonely and afraid. When I was worried about my son they reassured me he was ok or I would know otherwise. You kn…

Terry a nice dress would be good but something to think about if you are able to tour and go on the ship you may want to think about a nice pants suit. Going across walkways or down the stairs will allow for modesty for you. Also think about is it o…

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
I can't wait to see my son get beyond the things in life that he has endured and become the young man I know he is. I think he will see new things more than just the small town in Colorado. I want him to see the world before he settles down. I hope he makes a career in the Navy.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Chrismas poem

A friend sent this to me and I wanted to share it.

A Different Christmas Poem

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.
Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.

Sparkling lights in the tree I believe,
Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.
My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
Secure and… Continue

Oh, on his way from GL to SD he stopped by home for a week, proposed to & married his longtime(HS) girlfriend...! I love her, so was ok with me! Now their in SD doing their "thing" :) Spence loves the Navy & his job too!

He's in SD - assigned to the USS Mobile Bay. In dry dock right now, so he's just been working a lot. He's also training for Rescue Swimmer(urgghh)like DC isn't dangerous enough. He came home on his way to SD & married his longtime GF & so they're doing their "thing" in SD :) Sounds like Jordan is doing good & enjoying his tour ! Just got a call from Jordan. They are in Peru. The last of their ports. He has had such a great experience on his first assignment(not sure what to call his first trip out). He went snow boarding in the Andes and he is going to go fishing on a guided tour and he said he learned from their first port that drinking too much wasn't so fun because he didn't do anything productive or memorable except drink too much and pass out. I guess that is a good lesson for him as well. He also video taped a group of killer whales killing a sea lion right off the side of the ship. He says they have worked very hard but also played hard at the ports.

Jordan is in San Diego training right now. He also loves the Navy. When I approve you as a friend you can see my blog. I do have a pic of the damage control shirt. It is awesome. I will try to send it to you. Jordan graduated BC July 18 and finished A school the middle of Oct and reported to SD Nov 1st.

I haven't checked lately are we Colorado Moms trying to schedule a get together?? I would love to meet everyone. I am 2-3 hours from C-springs in the corner of the state....

I don't know how to send you the picture I have. Send me an email at bowers583@msn.com I know how to send it there. :)

I can't believe it has been almost 6 months that I have been on this site and Jordan has been in the Navy. He went in Memorial Day weekend (which I think was a sign that his Dad was with him)...I am such a jaded and musshy Mom. lol

Also, could you let me know where you got the picture of the Damage Control School Flag(or whatever it is) above..? I would love to get a copy. It's soo cool.
Thanks & take care.

Hi Terry! I knew you were in Colorado, but for some reason I didn't go to your page till now. I'm in C-springs. How does your son like DC? That's what my son is in school in GL for right now. He won't be done until around end of Jan. He loves the Navy & is looking forward to "getting out there"! I would love to hear more about your son's experiences.
I did want to ask where did you get the pic above of the damage control school flag(or whatever it is)? I really would like to get a copy of that if you could let me know I'd greatly appreciate it!!!
Thanks

Terry, I have a dog from your lovely little town. Several years ago, we heard of a local vet who raises English Setters and had a litter with 2 remaining pups. He was going to put them down, cause he couldn't sell them. We refused to have them put down, so we drove down with my son who is now in the Navy ironically, and picked up these pups, gave one away and still have the other one, Max. We stayed in the Cow Palace. Patrick, my son, thought he had died and gone to heaven, he loved staying in hotels with pools. Patrick is in his 6th year in the Navy now. Finally on shore duty in California.
