Joanie...you might have misunderstood your son. On a typical duty day, they have duty all day, and a 4 hr watch or 2 (separate) 4hr watch sessions, and you *are supposed to* get a meal break if on watch to go eat.

Tiffany,
Don't worry about music theory. The navy will tech you whatever you need to know. Many musicians go into the navy straight from high school and start from the beginning.

Hi Tiffany, Thanks for sharing the metra news. He's a good kid, I miss him so much. He'll be home early next month & then leaves for Japan for 4 yrs. :( That'll be hard for me but I'm glad he's visiting places outside of the base. Take care & I friend requested you. :)

What a coincidence! I have a degree in clarinet performance. I still play but am retired from the everyday teaching and playing.
I also conducted two adult bands and supervised music student teachers on the college level.
I agree that you should get in shape physically but finding a vocal teacher would be a great idea.

Getting in shape will also help your singing; breath support, endurance.
Have you studied privately?
College degree?
Since your hubby has been thru BC you know what is expected.
I think it's a great career move. I graduated from music school in 1970 and would have loved to play in a military band but women would not accepted at that time.

Awe thanks for the comment!
I know you are completely ecstatic to see him. I only have 33 more days and counting them down!! I got two letters the other day and was so excited. It stinks cause he said that he's in a division that apparently gets into trouble alot. Meaning, most of the guys in his group dont know when to shush so he along with a few others have to suffer for some other guys behavior. I hate that but its what has to happen unfortunately. :-\
