Hello Cindy My family and I are going to be out in VA in July. Do our sailors need to make the reservations at the Navy Lodge? My son is still out to sea as far as I know yet he should be returning soon. Do you know if my sister and her family coul…

Profile Information

About me:
I am currently teaching kindergarten. I have two young girls at home. My husband works at a local silver mine. My son Jeff enlisted in the spring of '07. The millitary is a new experience for all of us, even though my dad was a Navy man I do not remember too much of that life so long ago.

Our family enjoys the outdoors. We like to ride our ATV's during the summer months. We also enjoy fishing and hunting.

My oldest daughter and I enjoy scrapbooking and making greeting cards. I belong to a stampin' group and meet meet once a month to visit and create cards and scrapbook pages.
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted, Overseas
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Encouraged him/her
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Being patient. I do not always hear from my son as much as I would like to hear from him. I am slowly learning to be patient when I do not hear from him. I know that he is busy and can not always e-mail me. My son and I have always been very close and now that he has been deployed it isn't easy for us to communicate as often as we did before he left. Not being able to hear his voice has been extremely hard, as he always made me laugh.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

HI Tina,
Good here and trying to stay warm....brrr! And another rain storm coming in tomorrow night. Hope you are feeling much better these days. I'm glad the kids enjoyed their Valentine's Day Party. Thanks for joining Crockpot NM and no hurry on posting recipes but look forward to them later. I don't hardly use my crock either and I have only used it to make beans, roasts, meatloaf, and cake in it. Is your son stationed in WA? My son's homeport is in Everett, WA. Your going to be doing quite a bit of traveling. I'm sure you miss your son very much and will be very happy to see him. Well, I was supposed to be signed off already but thanks for writing, chat with you soon again. Take care, Karen

HI Tina,
Sorry, trying to catch up with everybody here. Sorry to hear your son wasn't able to come home for the holidays. My son wasn't home for the first time for Christmas since he is away on his first deployment and will not return til spring. He will be taking his leave when the ship pulls into port down south before going back up north to homeport. Can't wait til he is back home! Take care, Karen.

Hi Tina, I'm so sorry it took so long to get back to you. You can contact the ombudsman on the ship or you can send a message through your local red cross. If there is anything I can do please let me know. I've gotten messages through from parents who haven't heard from there son's or daughters in a while and were just worried. ( I have to control myself when it comes to my son. I have connections and he KNOWS he better call..... lol) How is your grandmother? My prayers are with you and your family
