corpsman school update

Well Jake has gotten through all of the written exams and now is into the labs and on hands training. We are really pourd of him. He received his orders. He is being attached to the Marines and will deploy with them to wherever- most likely Afghanistan or Iraq. I am heart broken. I didn't want him going anyw… Continue

Corpsman School

Well Jake is at Corpsman School now for a few weeks. He is really happy to be out of BC. He is still in Great Lakes, Illinois. We miss him terribly but it is really nice that he has his cell phone and we can talk to him of an evening and on the weekends. But for right now his focus is getting through all the tests he needs to pass.

30 second phone call

Well I got the call- and I must say that he sounded actually really good. He still had his cell phone so he called me with that, and simply said "well Mom this is your call, I love you, and I will call you again in 30 days" I got through the call and then the damn burst the moment it ended. I am so proud of him, and I know that this is the best decision he could have made.I will simply miss him so much. COME ON PIR !!!!

My son left Today :(

Well, My son left today for the Great Lakes. I am so overwhelmed right now I don't know up from down. He was so scared and nervous and excited all at the same time. And I was trying to be so brave (not sure I did such a great job though). I am so proud of him and scared for him. He is such a wonderful son and I am going to miss him so much. He's my artistic musician- plays the guitar and the harmonica, write songs and sings like an angel- always breaking into song during a conversation- used to… Continue

Hi JakesMom--I'm Michael's mom--corpsman gone green, now with the 2/2 Marines out of Lejeune, presently at Twentynine Palms training for the deployment which will happen in a few months. Its a tough one. I think it may be easier on me than on others--he originally wanted to sign up as a Marine! Then he was talked into the Navy and went in with a SEAL contract--got disqualified due to a past knee injury. so, back to the Marines. I know from his personality this is what he wants to do--this is the 'military' he wants to be a part of. Let me know where he ends up. I'll be a little ahead of you so I may be able to help you answer some of your questions.

Hey Tina!
So good to hear from you!! I'm glad your Jake made it through school. Jake is just starting A school now. He is ready to start to "get it over with" but I hope he's really ready for the studying!! He's not big on that!! So sorry your Jake isn't happy with FMTB. How far is he into it?? What do you mean by the Corpsman stuff too? Is he still being tested with Corpsman stuff?? My Jake enjoys physical stuff so I hope that part will be good for him. He was very disappointed in the PT at Navy BC. You sound very busy at home! and very talented! I can sew a straight line and thats about it. I don't have any little girls but spent my life taking all sort of dance classes. Is this the kind of tutus you make?? I will check out your site. PLEASE keep me up on your Jake. Take Care of yourself!

It was wonderful to see you at the graduation. Wasn't it wonderful? I am so glad we went. I took lots of pictures. I have 2 of Jake, and plenty more of the ceremony if you would like them. Send me your email address and I will be happy to send them to you.
I wish Jake all the best on his next leg with the Navy.
Your daughter was adorable!!
Happy 4th of July weekend........Cathy (Ryan's Mom)

Tina,
It was so good to hear from you again!! Hang in there. The navy will take good care of your second son. Look how well Jake is doing!! You will get through this one too. I also am very close with my son and we talk on the phone almost daily, right after classes end, or before he goes off to dinner. Sounds like they have a nice group of kids they hang with. Support your wishes of your second son and you will get through boot camp with him too! Those were agonizing days since we couldn't talk to them, but thinking back now, it doesn't seem all that long ago and now they are finishing A school. Keep in touch on the corpsman mom site and then when your next son goes in, get the support and comfort you'll need from whatever bootcamp division he will be in. You'll do ok. It is really hard on us everyday, just missing them so much, but it brings me great comfort knowing he is doing something he really wants and enjoys and he can have contact with his family again. It was great hearing from you. Send me a note if you decide to go to graduation!.....Cathy:~)

Hi!! thanks for the great tip on sending pictures! I will do that! We did get our "kid in a box" and also the offical letter with his one line scribbled on the bottom of the page. My Jake is 23 finished college but just couldn't seem to get settled in life. He talked about the Navy before (my dad was Navy and had a big influence) but I was surprised and excited when he actually decided to join! I feel like "Jules" in that I know for now he's safer than anywhere else he could be. He's getting 3 good meals a day, some rest and exercise of mind and body!! I also wish he could be in boot camp for 6 years!! and then come home to momma! I am very proud of these boys for volunteering themselves for us and our freedom!

I just read your post.... things move along so quickly... sometimes I WISH they were STILL back in bootcamp..... that safe environment... like they were in a bubble almost.... but they are moving on... and as scary as it is to us moms.... all we can do is PRAY and be PROUD PROUD PROUD of all their accomplishments.... the Navy it SO AWSOME.... they will not put our guys in harms way with out the proper training.... I pray that you will make it through bootcamp Again with your other son.... Kelly is going through it with her daughter... she leaves this week.... we are here for BOTH of you.... keep us posted.... and we will keep on praying! Enjoy your time when he comes home..... Josh was home for 14 days... it was truly wonderful to see him! I still go through the whole crying thing... just miss him so much.... but then I think back on what he has accomplished and I am SO proud.... and he's doing SO well right now..... so all we can do at this point is continue to lift hem up in prayer and support each other!!! I'm here for ya mama!!! Hang in there... and keep us posted!!!!! Take care my friend! Jules
