About me:
I am the spouse of a retired CPO. I have been an Ombudsman for the USN for nearly 4 years. I am proud to announce my son's decision in joining the USN in support of his country. He is currently in bootcamp.
I am here to support or represent my:
Child/Stepchild
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
That though it is painful a lot of times, it is VERY rewarding to support and love my sailor. As long as you have good communication and know your resources, you have a huge advantage in helping make his/her time in the USN a success!!
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Hello everyone,

I am so happy to see there is a site dedicated to providing support, resources, and info to the strongest people in the Navy ( Navy spouse, Mom and Significan other)!! Tina, some people are saying that cards sent to your nephew Michael Avinger in San Diego are being returned to them. Does he want Christmas cards? If so, do you have an updated address for him? This is for Molly's Adopt a Sailor - Special Hugs.
Thanks, Brenda Sue

THAT is not considered life or death??? Wow!!! Well, I did write to my son. I don't know how much information they hear about guys from other boats, so he may or may not have heard about the accident. But I filled him in and told him that if he should get the opportunity, that maybe a few of them should go to the hospital and pay a visit. Between all of us moms on here, maybe we can make sure George gets alot of visitors. Won't be a "mom" figure.....but this is the best we can do.

Oh, that's awful. I feel so bad for him. What ship is he on? My son is on a sub .... on the Buffalo. If there is anything we can do, please let me know. I can usually get a hold of my son on his phone or by e-mail. Have you found any parent that lives in Guam that can help your nephew? I hope you do find someone. Also, could the Red Cross help with getting this boy's parents down there to him?

Tina, that is just awful. I am so sorry to hear that. This must be so difficult for him. I would want the same attention for my fiance if he were in this situation. I am so afraid of him having a cycle so maybe he will understand my fear now- he likes anything fast. I will talk to him and we will figure out what he can do. Hopefully he will have a car this week and get the license stuff straight and it will be easier to get over there. Are there any plans for him to come home?
