LeAnne - This is the first time my son won't be home for Christmas also. It just won't be the same without him. I'm finishing up shopping today. You've given me some ideas.

I think he'll be on base for a short while, then move into an apartment. Actually the practical side is a great idea. I didn't even think about that. Thank you so much!

Is there a section on Christmas gift ideas for Nukes? I was ready to mail tomorrow, but someone mentioned a Wii might be a good idea too. I know nothing about them, or if they even have time for that kind of thing. I welcome any last minute ideas! H…

There are so many ideas out there, groups that actually will send packages or gifts to our troops, recipes, themes, all kinds of ideas it would be fun to have an area to store them even though we have them scattered in other groups.

Hi Tonya,
Yes, Zach just started Power School on Monday, as well. He's an ET in 0906-5. What about Brandon?

Tonya, my son is also a Nuke at Goose Creek. He's just finishing his 1st week of classes but has been in GC for 3 weeks. There is a group on N4M's all about care packages. It's called something like "Care Package ideas" or something. I've also found some good websites from there, they have a lot of links. You can go to my profile (just click on my name) and then look at my groups on the left side of my page. Happy Hunting!!

HI, my name is Dorothy, and my son Justin has been in SD since Aug 07. I did go to SC to see him graduate, if you can it is a neat sight. I still him cookies, some homebaked and some store bought. He loves oreos. I will find neat treats that he liked as a child. One thing I always did for him, was I would bake 2 boxes of the Pillsbury dough boy "holiday" cookies. Before he joined the navy, I would do this. He always ate all but one, which I was allowed to eat before he took the rest. So I make those, send oreos, sent jelly beans for easter. They will appreciate anything you send. Storage is tight so I usually send cookies. Hope that helps.

I would like to invite you to join the group of moms from Texas!! We are the largest state group on this site!! (Everything is bigger in Texas - including Navy Moms)!! We reached 500 members on February 12, 2009. We were one year old on March 8, 2009!!!

Just go to the groups tab and type in Texas in the search box. The icon of the group is the state of Texas, of course!! If you can’t find that, click on my picture to the left and it will take you to my page. You can find the same icon there. Just click on it and you can join us!!

Please leave a short message about where you live and what your sailor is doing. Also, please let us know how you found Navy for Moms.

My sailor son, Derek, is a MA (Master at Arms) - He is now stationed in Portsmouth, Virginia.
