Hi Christi, I love that photo of Greg too....he looks like a giant fly head with those huge goggles! He and Jill are going to Wisconsin for Xmas to see her family. She was there this summer but he hasn't been since Xmas before last and this will be…

Hi, My daughter is in boot now PIR 1/22 for Rescue Swimmer. She wrote that there are two other females in her div also. I've been lurking around here for about two weeks trying to get as much info as possible.

Chris, I love that picture of Greg. How great he looks and happy!!! My sailor comes home next Thursday...I'm very excited! I know I just saw him in October but Christmas just doesn't start for me until Shawn gets home. Going to go get a tree this we…

To touch on recent lines of thinking.... Our rescue swimmer is home for a few more days. Just last night my husband was giving him a manly type "pat" on the shoulder (not like a mom's pat, you get what I mean, a little more force). My husband drew…

I think I'm going to leave the other Rescue group. We all seem to be on both but the other one doesn't get used. I can only manage to use so much of my brain and then it poops out.

Thanks Ladies.. Very helpful, although I have heard this from amny that they are glad they did it but would not volunteer to do it again. I googled it and gave it to Chris yesterday morning and he seems excited about it? I am glad that this is somet…

Greg said he's glad he did SERE, it gave him so much more self confidence in case he was ever captured. BUT.....he didn't want to do it again! Anyone who flies has to do it. Makes sense.

Do all AO/Rescue Swimmers go through SERE?

One of the first things I noticed about Greg when he was home after almost a year, was how tall and straight he was, how broad his shoulders were, basically what a hunk he is. He's always been in good shape but wow! All this PT is paying off. His at…

Oh I know all about that, Texas Mom of 2! The navy and RSS turn them into HUNKS! Funny to say that about our sons, but it is so true. They really start turning heads when they walk by so tall and straight!! But when you finally hug him, he will just…

Thats what I heard, Beth. Jon tells me the same thing. He is fine with it and said there will be quite a few AW2's leaving the squadron over this next year so many more positions will be opening up. So glad to hear that kind of thing from Garrett a…

Welcome, Brandy. Glad to have you among us. Garrett finally heard about the squadron's and his own results for advancement... Only one guy in his squadron was advanced. The way we understand it, HSC has its own pool... HSL, HSM, and HS are another…

OK, that explains why Greg said he wouldn't be getting any extra pay for 6 months. I thought that was a bit strange but as usual, our fount of all knowledge, Kari, has the answer for us. Hmmm....I too would think that SEALS would be much harder on…

Hello I am new to this group.. My son is leaving for GL in April and signed to be Air Rescue Swimmer. I am proud of him but very emotional @ the same time. I do not know much about this job, any information you can give will be very helpful to me. T…

Congratulation to all the sailors who made PO2, what proud parents you must be!! I haven't posted in a while due to my son being on med. down, it's been 5 weeks. Monday he was officially dropped from ARS with knee problems, he talked with the physi…

Congrats to all of you whose sailors made PO2!! What an awesome achievement! Beth - I think Jon is doing the same thing as Garrett. I'm not even sure if he took the test - did they all have to take it? He has not said much other than he a few months…

Chris, you must be thrilled! All these sailors have worked hard. I'm glad they are being recognized for their skills and knowledge!
December 5
Greg made it too! bravo zulu to Shawn & Derik and anyone else who makes it! I think Beth may be right, there may be another 3 years before trying for PO1 so they're upping them all right now. PO2 is SOOOO much better than PO3.
December 4
Congratulations Christi to you and your sailor. Great news! Kari, I'm not sure about the exact guidelines. My understanding is that these new PO2's may be at that level for 3 years before they can even attempt to take the advancement test to PO1. S…

Hello Tricia,
I posted on the Rss site and didn't get the help I needed. I m just hoping people haven't really been on.My son Brady just got dropped from RSS. He was in his 2nd week. He has actually been "rolled back" and will try again in two weekds with A Team. Can you offer any advice. I would like to share the entire story but am afraid to. Any suggestions or advice. I would be willing to share my personal e-mail with you so that it could be private. I AM VERY WORRIED. I also left a comment on Julie K.'s page. I am hoping between the 2 of you, you can shed some light on this thing. Thanks in advance for you help. xo Julie R.

Tricia, I'm freaking out here. I live in Lawrenceville, GA, but I'm originally from Tuscaloosa. I went to school at UAB and moved to Huntsville after I got married. I have a 4 year old daughter who was a preemie and spent 2 months in the NICU at Gwinnett Medical! The NICU nurses and doctors are my heroes! Virtual hugs to you! NICU NURSES ROCK!

Tricia,
Thanks for the friends invite. Hope you're having a great Sunday. This is a pretty exciting week for me. My son's division is scheduled for PIR this Friday. Woo hoo! I can't wait to see Nick. I miss him so much.
Talk to you soon!

Hi Tricia,
Thanks for the invite. I would like to join your group. How fun to find other mothers of aviation rescue swimmers. My son was just home for the weekend. A short, but sweet visit. He is stationed in San Diego, so not too far from me in Phoenix. Looking forward to talking more with you. Where are you located? Is your son in the rescue swimming portion of training at this time? He has a long road ahead, but it will be rewarding. My son says it is the best job in the Navy. :)

Thanks Tricia! I will tell him to eat more meat. Last Friday - the PIR was so much fun and yet so emotional - at least for us! We are going Saturday to see Stephen again and spend some quality time with him. I can't wait to see him and spend more time with him. He did call me on Mother's day which was the highlight of my day! Thanks for you words of wisdom! Hope everything is going well! Beverly
