They all go to San Diego. The small base they are on has one of the most beautiful views in San Diego!

Donna ~ The answer is yes and then he'll probably be on hold to start MN school in San Diego! Welcome to Navy life!

I suggest gift cards for Christmas. I know it's a little impersonal, but at least they can get what they want or need. You can go on-line and get gift cards for the NEX, that way they can use them no matter where they are stationed.

Phyllis ~ My daughter has been in the Navy for a little over four years. For those holidays that she hasn't been home, it seems as if one of the officers always invites those sailors who can't go home over for the day. Or a bunch of them get togethe…

Hello MN Moms, Robin is getting settled in Charleston. She spent 18 months there when she was in nuke school, so she already knows her way around. She is living in an apartment on base, which is the best living conditions she's had in her four years…

That sounds right - 90 days. Then Alex came home for almost 30 days. That was nice. Oct 3rd will be a year he has been overseas. I hope Robin will be able to be home before she leaves for her ship. Your Robin is the buzz on the MN site. I agree - I hope the Navy makes a big fuzz and takes many pictures of her being the first female MN. Trying to finish my mother's birthday Halloween scrapbook. Have the pictures in on teh pages - just need to add the explanations! Have a good evening TLynn

Hi,
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. Have you ever had a day that you try to finish something and 2 other events happen that HAVE to be taken care of? That's today. Yes, I actually just heard from my sailor 10 minutes ago! His ship is at it home base in Japan. But the crew is pulling work days of 14 to 16 hours long. He shared that another inspection was happening. This is the third one. I don't think my son or any of the other sailors on that ship will get any free time to sight see at all. Alex stated that this upcoming inspection only happens every 5 years. Guess my son is going to be part of every inspection there is! He called becasue he was afraid he missed his father's birthday . He relaxed when he learned -what ever he sent should make it in time. Maybe he got his dad a blow gun too. Just what I need - all three of my guys with blow guns. Let you know what is sent. So Robin likes being on hold? I hope she gets to A School soon. So she can get assigned to a ship. At this point - Alex has not mentioned any remodeling being done on his ship to accomedate female MN - so I have no gossip there. Has Robin received any kind of information at all? Need to finish some crank duty here - but my ear is ready for any gossip you send :). Have a good evening TLynn
PS - I just reread my last message and I thought I proof read and corrected my spelling - I am so sorry about that. I type everything I want to say first - so my thoughts do not get lost and then proof read. Miss that time.

Hi Trina,
No my son has not met any female MN. He is on the USS Patriot. When he first mentioned about female MN - he thought it was a joke. Until the word was passed down the lines- that REALLY there were female MN and that his ship was going to be one remodeled to meet the needs of the female MN. My son was worried about this - he shares that these sweepers are very small. He doesn't feel that the ships could be made to give them enough private space. But he shared that now the remodleing isn't going to happen, so he is just waiting to see what happens. Let you know anything I hear. AS of now, his ship is due for some inspection and all of the crew has been on overtime - so he is beat. My son is an E4, but is 28 years old. So he is always trying to get the younger sailors to behave. When he was stationed at Ingelside, TX -he actaully called home and told us that these kids ( younger shipmates) were driving him nuts at times and apolgized to us for misbehaing when he was that age. When he said it - we almost fell off our chairs and wished we had it recorded. Hope all goes well for her and please share when she gets her orders. One question and I know this will sound strange - does she have long johns with her? She could be at the GL when it starts to get cold and it gets windy cold! Plus, she will need the long johns if she gets stationed in Japan. Alex begged for some when he got to Japan - they run out of those things in November and the stores off base do not carry sizes to fit our sailros. So I am putting a thought in your head. Thanks for accepting me as a friend - it's nice having a MN mom to share with. For a long time I was the only one. Have great evening. T-Lynn

Hi Trina:
Tommy is in Florida now waiting to class up. He is phase two now, so he is pretty excited that he can wear "civvies"and have extended liberty. He is thinking about coming home for a bit before classes start because once they do, he will be pretty tied up. I love your pictures. I bet the kids were excited to get to pose with a real sailor!!

Hi Trina!
I didn't realize your daughter was in the Navy! It is so nice to have this site so we can all connect. Where is your daughter stationed? Tommy is headed to Pensacola for his A school.

Trina, Thank you, we are heading home in the morning, I will miss being with my kids, but I need to get home to my cats and work. Play time here is over. Mike took us on the ship today and we got to see where he work and he told us some of what he does on the ship. We went to the Nex and they would not let me buy anything Mike had to pay for it. As we where walking out another mom came up to me and said that the next time go into this lane. The girl there will let us pay for our stuff and not give us a hard time. Oh well. Hugs

Trina, thanks for the response. Robin is beautiful! It's great to see there is a successful woman in the nuke program. Leah is currently taking a college prep chemistry class with a current B grade. She is in the top 9% of her graduating class. Leahs ultimate desire is MA but it wasn't offered to her at MEPS because of her vision, it would have to be corrected by lasik for her to qualify. She's still undecided if she sants to stick with AECF of go Nukes. Thank goodness she still has plenty of time to decide.

I read your post. Sorry your daughter feels that emailing you is enough. Someday she will realize the importance of letter writing and sending real cards. By the way I grew up in Puyallup!!
