Corpsman! She's a better woman than me - lol - I get faint at the sight of blood. We were fortunate enough to get to go to Great Lakes for Steven's PIR too. It was truly awesome. The feelings of pride, patriotism & love overflowed from everyone. It was really great to see our sons & daughters so changed from the teenagers we sent away just 2 months before. Steven is now getting ready to graduate from Power School (the second phase of his nuclear training) but we won't get to go to Charleston. Finances are just too tight. I thought about going alone (without hubby & little bro) but I've never travelled alone before so I don't know - we'll have to see if we can pull it off.
Also, WELCOME ABOARD!! One thing to remember, communication with your sailor depends entirely on the good graces of the Navy. Steven calls and sometimes, right in the middle of the conversation, will say " I've got to go". that's when I know something has come up or he's run out of alotted time. It used to hurt my feelings, especially right after boot camp, but I came to understand that that is just the Navy and it had nothing to do with his not wanting to talk to me. Depending on Tiffany's next assignment, she should be able to have her cell phone, computer, etc. I instant message with Steven almost every evening and usually get a phone call on the weekends. Life has returned very much back to normal after the "communication depravation" we went through during boot camp. LOL
Anyway, if you have any questions, this is a great place to get answers - from friends or by blog. This site is certainly a better resource than your recruiter. I found that they are the salesmen of the Navy and once you're in they are not very useful (not the word I wanted but couldn't think of anything better). In case of emergency, death in the family, etc contact your local Red Cross office. They will work as liason between you and the Navy to get your sailor home if necessary and feasible.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. Send me a message whenever you want and I WILL answer as soon as I can even if it is a month later.
Prayers & Hugs,

We wanted to go to the meet-n-greet, but I think it's too late to rsvp now. Maybe it will be okay if we just show up? We live close to Austin. How long will it take y'all to drive? Be safe. Hope to meet you there!
