Any one else have a horse that LOVES to swim? Our chestnut is crazy about the water. As we rotate the pastures, we always have to keep an eye on him when he's down chomping the grass in the pasture that runs along the edge of our lake. Sure enough...

Sad news for our little community. A quaint little feed store is shutting their doors. She couldn't compete w/ the Big Boys down the road. If I had the money, I'd buy it and give it a try. I think what killed her is she tried to cater to dressage ...

BOOT CAMP/Memorial Day

I stumbled accross a letter I had written to my son in BC and thought it might be befitting for this Memorial Day. I can't claim writing this, I borrowed it from another mother on N4M and modified to fit for my son, while he is long since out of BC, it made so much sense and hopefully made him think of the many that had gone before him and the many that would follow. Something to think about on this Memorial Day.

I bet it is odd thinking you could be standing, at times, in the exact same spot a… Continue

So close...am I ready?

In 1 week and 4 days I will be watching my sons PIR, it is so close, yet so far. I can't sleep, my eyes tear up in an instant, I am constantly on this N4M website and I can't focus on things, because my mind is constantly on seeing my son, this is all I want to talk about, thankfully my husband likes to talk about it too, he is just as excited and proud as I am. It seems like I haven't seen my sweet boy in forever, I have to listen to my messages (I missed his call last week) just to remind me o… Continue

A phone call! Both heartwarming and heartbreaking!

Just got off the phone with my boy! :) It's the first I've heard his voice in almost 4 weeks, it was so biitersweet, my heart is ripping to pieces! I couldn't think of all those questions I had before, I just wanted to sit there and listen to him breath! He is a bit sick, not to mention homesick and he feels like a complete mess up all the time, said he can't get his inspections right and keeps scoring low. He was doing drill with a rifle, but said he was too nervous at first and messed up sever… Continue

Thanks for the note. I'm sorry I haven't answered you before now, however I rarely check this site. Both my husband and I are transferring up with Walgreens. He is already up there, he helped get the Wasilla store open, now for the one on Diamond on Anchorage. I will fly up just as soon as our house sells here. I'll try to check back on here to keep in touch.

Hi, Valorie!

I saw on Edwina's page that you asked how I was so I thought I would answer. I doing a lot better that I thought. Right now I guess I'm going through the I'm so mad and upset with the way he left some of the things that I just fussing at him lol! I am really learning to do a lot of things that I didn't expect to be doing.

Stephen is on his first cruise and I think it's more of a fun cruise than anything. They are going to Brazil, Argentina, Rio and St. Lucia plus a couple of other places. He is officially a Shellback now since he crossed the equator and was initiated (sp). They first timers had to do several things then ask King Neptune permission to become a Shellback. They were going to have a steel beach picnic and go swimming if you can imagine that because I can't. He's stationed in Little Creek, VA and Rebecca and I were able to go visit Memorial Day weekend. He's matured so much.

I see where Edwina told you about Rebecca and Lafe. I still can't believe that they are getting married. I gave Rebecca my wedding rings instead of making her wait until something happens to me. She thought I was crazy since I was texting her at 8 on a Sat. morning asking if they wanted to use my rings. I know they are trying to plan the wedding so that Stephen will be able to give her away. She also has to finish college before she can move to Charleston.

How is Brian? How are you and the family?

The kids made it in fine. Becca is a sweetheart. I can tell Lafe is head over heels for her and vice a versa. They made a cute couple. We are having a big party today with all Lafe's childhood friends. Tomorrow we are headed up to the mountains for a couple of days. The weather has been unseasonally cool, but up to 110 by Friday.

Becca said Donna is doing well. She is planning a vacation with one of her friends. Right now, she is going to stay in the Atlanta area because her mom lives close to her. I am planning on going to Atlanta in July and meeting up with Lafe for a Drum Corp event. I will get a chance to see Donna while I am there.

Take care

Hey Val,

Just a quick update on Lafe. He passed his NUKE comp test. He is now officially out of A-School and will have the graduation on Friday. He will head home for 15 days Friday night. He is bringing Donna's daughter Rebecca with him. They are still dating and talking about marriage. I am not ready for that, but I am ready to meet her and spend time with Lafe. The new pics of Brian are great. I sure can tell he loves his bike. I rode for years.
I have a friend dating an anethesiologist from Anchorage. She just came home last week. If she moves there, I will get to come see both of you.....yeah. Take it easy & enjoy your summer.
