I would like to know suggestions for places to stay close to Goose Creek, too. We will go for a couple of days in June. I wish the villas weren't all booked up. Sounds like a great place to stay.

Profile Information

About me:
I am a second grade teacher and I enjoy watching my students learn and get involved in what we are doing in class.
I am suffering from a severe case of empty nest syndrome, as many of you are, as well. At the same time I am excited about what the Lord is doing in my sons' lives. Our oldest and his family live Vermont and work with teenagers in church. They have a little boy and a new baby girl born Dec. 26, 2008. Our youngest son is a member of the United States Navy and his PIR date was 10/3. Zak is in A School. I pray that he will meet some Christian friends that just want to do what is right and learn as much as they can.
God is good, all the time.

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
that I'm not sure I like a quiet house. The next most important thing is that there are LOTS of other moms that are feeling exactly like I am and are so encouraging on navyformoms.com!
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Hi Valorie, I was thinking about you and your classroom full of great kids learning about the Us. Was wondering if anyone had sent you a postcard from Washington State yet? If not, I'd be glad to. If yes, I can at least send you one from Spokane. OUr state is divided by a mountain range, the Western (Seattle area) side is very different from the Eastern side in terrain, climate etc. It's a beautiful state all around though, lots of natural wonders to explore and learn about. =) Let me know! Hope your new year is off to a wonderful start. Take care. Congrats oncthe new grandbaby too! :D

Zak is enjoying the Christmas holidays with family! Praise the Lord! We also were blessed with a new granddaughter Dec. 26th. My oldest son David and his wife Stephanie named her Taylor. Their little boy Trenton seems to be excited about a new baby sister. All are doing well. God is good, all of the time.

We are looking forward to Zak being home for the Christmas Holidays! Hopefully the weather will hold out for the trip. We will be grandparents again on Friday. Our older son David and his wife have a son that is 13 months old and she is going to have a c-section on Friday, Dec. 26th! We are excited to have a new baby in the family. We don't have any girls, so this is even more exciting! Please pray for both of our sons and daughter in law. Have a blessed day!

Thank you, blue candles to light our sailors way home. Ours will be at Great Lakes through the holidays. He's still waiting on his A school assignment at Great Lakes. Kind of in limbo for a while. He should start next month and after there head to sub school in Groton, which is less than an hours drive for us. We'll having our holiday celebration then with him.

Enjoy your holiday seasons and the blessings that come with it.

Hugs,
Trish

Hi,
Jason looooves the Navy, so yes-he is doing well. He, too spends money like there's no tomorrow. He thinks he will be able to save while he is gone-but I remain skeptical. Ha ha
Are you counting the days to X-mas vacation? I work at the Appraisal District and only get 2 days off. :( My stepdaughter teaches Jr. High Science and she is more than ready!!
What will Zak go to A school for? And will that be in SC? Is he liking the Navy so far? I think it would be hard to be on hold like that.
Talk to you again soon.

Hi Valorie-How was your Thanksgiving? Ours was good-just missed Jason. Will Zak get to come home for Christmas? Has he had his tests yet? Jason will be in Kuwait for the holiday, he leaves next week. Would love to hear from you again-we might have to meet in Paris sometime for lunch or something. : )

Glad you got them! I didn't realize how hard it is to find postcards until I started looking. We are such a tourist area that I took it for granted they would be anywhere. I found them up in Estes Park while I was shopping for something else so it worked great! After that I thought about having my daughter's 5th grade class send post cards. Then I thought - well that was not really the assignment. Sometimes I don't follow the rules too closely. My brain gets going and then I have to rell myself back in. If you think it would be a fun lesson we could do it. Jenna was all for having her class do it. They just sent postcards to their kindergarten buddies.
