Matts doing ok now. He was released out of the VA hospital today and was sent back to the boot camp base so I think everything is back on track.

My son Matt went to BC. He arrived at GL on Tues. 12-9 I just got a call today that he was in a VA hospital for severe headaches... very low BP 79/49 and he is generally not feeling well. So far all the tests come back normal he said. I called his recruiter 2 times and tried to email him to find out more of the situation and no answer. Whats gonna happen to him. Will he get right back into BC when he gets better? He said BC was fine till he got sick with whatever is going on and he has no history of any illness.

I know it can seem difficult but try to keep busy. Mailing him letters and goodies helped me deal with the emptyness I felt at first when PJ left home. Also, it's nice to add extra treats for the shipmates too!! Helps them to bond with one another after all its a big Navy family!!

May your family have a happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!!

Hi Vivian. Your son just left for BC as well. Everyone tells me while they are in BC its a long 8 weeks. Moreso on us as parents than for them. Ive been told to stay busy and ive also been told start collecting articles and such like your sons favorite sports teams so when u write to him send that kind of stuff so he feels closer to home. People who have done this say they really appreciate this in BC so i thought i would pass along to you.

There are groups to help you with each and every step of this wonderful adventure that our children have chosen called the US Navy.
