Hi! "Anytime" with your sailor will be good times. I'm assuming you are going to see him while he is still in BC. He will appear more grown up and assured of himself. I bet he will be a bit emotional. For me, when I saw my son at BC graduation, we h…

Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:

On time with his original division

My son PIR'd on time. Had to run BS with a different division but then asked if he could transfer back to his original division and they let him since he did the 7 weeks with them before he got sick. He said it was more paperwork for the rdc's but even they were glad he asked to PIR with the original guys/div. They really do want them to succeed. Thanks for the prayers. He is now at Goose Creek and he doesn't even have a lingering cough anymore and breathing a lot better. My anxiety level is way… Continue

Prayers

It was great seeing my son on Thanksgiving. He was placed in a different division since he passed out two feet from the finish line after running the 1.5 mile. He still has the same PIR date if he can keep up with the new division. The pneumonia is getting better and he is feeling better. I'm just praying his anxiety of a new divison of guys subsides and he just does his best. It would be a bummer to get to GL and find he won't graduate on 12/4/09 but instead 12/18/09 but I assured him the PIR d… Continue

I need to breath

I'm so excited to get to see my son on Thanksgiving even if it is just for a 7+ hour window. I can't wait to see his face. How he holds himself, has his hair grown any, did he loose weight, did he buff up, will he smile real big when he sees me or will he be emotional like his mom. Did they take the emotin out of him at Boot Camp? Will I be able to stop crying happy tears. Oh man, I can hardly wait. Adrienne

Adrienne, I know what you are going through, I was waiting too, so I called his recruiter, he gave me address. Then I finally get the letter from Blake, and it's a different address! Ugh! So the first couple of letters might not reach him! There is a lesson in this whole story, I'm working on patience!!! Your letter will come, and it will be a great day!!

Just want to say hi from across the river (about 18 miles from the Arch!)
We managed to make it through boot camp, but songs and grocery stores were tough. Even shopping at Kohl's seemed empty when I went by the young men's clothing section. And, the dogs, jumping up whenever they heard a "stereo on wheels" and running to the kitchen door.
Let us know how we can help you.
