Hey!!
Yeah, I just got back from the Great Lakes yesterday && stayed at the Red Carpet Inn && honestly...I LOVED it.
That's all I really used it for too. You'll be out and about most of the time && it's really not that bad of a place to stay.
It's not the most upscale place to stay but it works && it's SOO CLOSE to base! You'll probably be renting a car? But they also offer a free shuttle service on the day of graduation && that is DEFINITELY the service to use because they bypass all of the cars that are waiting in line to go through car checks. That way you get there sooner && can grab yourself a good seat.
Me && the girl I roomed with grabbed their free donuts they offered the morning of graduation && we also used their free wifi service.

It's "old fashioned" seeing as that the room keys are actually KEYS && not high tech key cards like most hotels nowadays. The front desk people were really nice && were mainly Polish but you're able to understand them.

It's definitely not upscale but for the price && location, I think it worked out well for me. They have an iron in the room but not a blow dryer. I'm not sure if you can request for one though. I didn't look into it because I don't use a blow dryer. There is a tv and a small refrigerator as well.
It's not a bad place to stay. It's what a hotel use to be before the 21st century when everything became high tech && rooms were equipped w/flat screen tvs etc...

Like I said, it's more "old fashioned" but if you don't mind that, then I think you'll be fine.

Hope that helped!
Feel free to comment me back if you have anymore questions.

:)

Hi & welcome to Navy for Mom's:)) You will find a lot of answers, support and encouragement here. My daughter, Ashley (20), has been in the Navy for 2 years and is an IT3 & my son Tim (19) has been in since Feb 2008 stationed on the USS Nimitz. What will your son/daughter be doing with the Navy? If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm glad you joined and look forward to hearing more about you & your DEP recruit. Pat
